I gave up on him when I heard he'd killed an innocent animal for the fun of it.

One word - ar**h***
Prince William and Kate kill innocent animals for fun on a regular basis.

how has anyone not talked about him in The outsiders (1983) it's only one of the greatest movies from the early 80's ya really should ignore those movies if you didn't like them there's a lot of actors and actress's i love where certain films they did were total shit such as No country for old men (2007) a film that is one of the worst i've ever seen in my life it had a great cast but people love it for some reason i just don't get it

as for The Outsiders (1983) his role isn't huge either

That's cool that your brother's friend was an extra on that movie. I actually watched "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" on friday night. I had not seen it before and I think the movie was really good.:hat:

There was some funny moments but the movie had heart. I also think it was before it's time and that it was a brave role for Patrick Swayze to take on. It was also brave of his co-stars. But maybe it helped that they were three men playing transvestites.

1- Ghost
2- To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar
3- Donnie Darko

That´s all I have seen of him, aside from "North & South", which to me is his very best role, though for TV.

Okay so this is my Patrick Swayze list. I doubt anyone's gonna be surprised about the top two choices. :danc:

1. Dirty Dancing (1987)
It's my favorite since it's the first movie I saw with Patrick Swayze and also the one I've rewatched the most. I love the dancing and the music. It's a feel good movie. Also brings me back to the 1980s when I was a child. Yes I know it's supposed to be in the 1960s but the movie does have an 1980s vibe to it. It's funny too.

2. Ghost (1990)
This movie made me cry the first time I saw it. How many of us haven't wished at one time or another that we could talk again to a loved one who has died?
Also Whoopi Goldberg is hilarious.

3. One Last Dance (2003)
I love the dancing and the fact that Patrick did this movie with his wife Lisa Niemi. They were amazing together. Watching them dance is just beautiful.

4. City of Joy (1992)
Mostly because it was filmed in India and he portrayed a doctor who worked with people with leprosy.
I visited another part of India 20 years later. Only some things had changed.

5. To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar (1995)
This movie was before it's time. So brave of Patrick and his two main co-stars to portray drag queens.
Also Stockard Channing is memorable in a smaller role. The movie has a message.

6. Skatetown, USA (1979)
The choreography of all the roller skating dance scenes are amazing. People are basically dancing with roller skates on. Yet at the same time it reminds me of figure skating. Also Judy Landers and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke from the Bold and the Beautiful) can be seen in small parts.

7. Forever Lulu (2000)
It's a roadtrip movie. But I like the fact that it's also a love story and at the center of it all is a woman who is suffering from mental illness. I recognize the song at the end. It was popular around the time the movie came out.

8. Steel Dawn (1987)
This movie is pure fantasy/sci-fi. Amazing scenery, filmed in Africa. It reminds me a bit of Star Wars. I also like that he once again co-stars with his wife Lisa. It's too bad they didn't do more than two movies together.

9. The Outsiders (1983)
I just saw this movie last night for the first time. It is rather dark. It is beautiful in it's scenography. It has a message and portrays some gang violence. The characters has some shades of grey where they are not bad or good. It is about the 1960s I think and yet there is something about it that is still 1980s. I can't explain it but it doesn't feel as genuine as Rebel Without A Cause (1955) which was really filmed in the era it was supposed to portray. The main character has a really weird name. Ponyboy or something like that. It's based on a novel.

10. Red Dawn (1984)
It's a war movie with a pretend war. You can probaby read in some communism fear in it as the cold war was not over yet when it was filmed. But I prefer actual war movies about historical events like the Second World War. A plus is that you can see Jennifer Grey in a role.

That's it. :)

I have actually never watched Roadhouse (1989). I think it's not really my type of movie since it seems very much like a male action movie. But I must admit that I am getting curious to watch it. It's sad how the fan you knew died in a fire though. But neat how he was quoting the Swayze movie.

It reminds me of a while ago I caught a Patrick Swayze reference in a tv-series called "Seal Team". In it a character called Sonny called out "Wolveries!" Then he went on explaining "I think Red Dawn was Swayze's best movie!"
Another character named Jason replied. "I preferred Road House."

I think that was a pretty neat pop cultural reference. :)

@darkshadows38 you've mentioned a bunch of Swayze movies. Do you wanna try to list them?

i watch Seal Team too it's not gonna be on CBS after the first 4 episodes of the next season but Paramount Plus... i keep forgetting to list them to be honest.

as for Roadhouse (1989) it's not a bad movie and i can see why it would me more of a male film it does have action in it i think i've only seen the entire thing maybe a couple of times. i've seen the last half hr or 45 minutes over dozen times though. when i was a kid i wasn't allowed to watch the first half cause it had nudity in it.
but than i was allowed to watch Porky's they would just cover my eyes when the nudity on that came on screen.

my dad loves Roadhouse (1989) funny enough i think it was me or my brother who years ago bought him it used on VHS but it's steal used ! my brother used to work for a video store called Video Town and they have been closed shit for over 25 years damn at this point and they would like prolly every other video store no doubt reseal their movies when they would put them for sale. we never did upgrade it for him cause he's never gonna watch the VHS of it.... i don't get the way of thinking of preferring to watch it cut on tv rather than own it i don't get that line of thinking at all or prefer to watch it on tv yet if you own you never watch it? i don't get that line of thinking either i dunno maybe it's cause i love movies and i own literally at least a thousand of them counting my 3 bins full of VHS tapes

You know I tend to agree with you as I just love "North & South".
So I'm glad you brought it up as it definitely deserves an honorable mentioning even though we can't vote for it since it is a mini TV-series that is the lenght of 12 movies.

North & South Cast2.jpg
It had an excellent cast too! :hat:

Up next is this show biz veteran actor:

He was the youngest of four siblings. He is of African American descent with roots in Niger, Senegal, Liberia, Congo and Angola. Freeman was partly raised by his paternal grandmother and he moved around a lot as a child.

Morgan Freeman made his acting debut at the age of 9 in a school play and won a drama competition at the age of 12. After graduating from High School in 1955 he was offered a partial drama scholarship but turned it down to join the United States Air Force. After spending four year in the military he moved to Los Angeles, California. He started working as an actor and dancer. He worked mainly on the stage and also got some roles as extras in movies in the 1960s. He first became known to audiences in the TV-series The Electrical Company (1971-1977). But his big break didn’t come until the movie Street Smart (1987). Freeman has since then maintained a successful career and has won one Oscar.

In his career he has made approximately 80 movies so far. But which one is your favorite?
