Now that we've done most of the decades I'd like to continue with various themes and genres.
It will not always be everyone's cup of tea but even if you rank only 1 or 2 titles it can affect the tally up of the final winners.

The 10 greatest LGBTQ films is what we're looking for.

At first I thought I would struggle to find 10 LGBT+ that I've seen, and rate highly, but once I started putting together my list, I realised there were so many that I was going to have to leave out some very good films. Here is my top 10:

The 10 greatest LGBTQ films is what we're looking for.

Looking at lists like this and this convinces me that I haven't watched most of the greatest LGBT films... and I probably wouldn't manage it even if this round lasted a month.

Such lists and other peoples choices in this and other film threads have put a number of great examples on my radar (I'll be watching one tonight), but most of the ones that have excited me will probably have to wait until it's too late.

Still, I've got a passable list forming, and I'm feeling confident about my #1 choice (it hasn't been mentioned yet). But then this time last week, I thought my current #2 film was a shoo-in for #1 (and that hasn't appeared in any of the lists yet either).

4) Cruising (1980) - That was such a deep movie and the ending really left you with a lot to analyze.
5) And the Band Played On
6) Tales of the City (1993) - it was on PBS.. but I count it as a great mini series)
7) Party Monster
8) Beautiful Thing (1996) - and it uses Cass Elliott (Mama Cass) songs to boot
9) Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss
10) Mulligans

Don't get what all the fuss is about

I wasn't aware of any fuss. I watched it on Prime last year and found it a pretty and somewhat transcendental experience.

Looking at lists like this and this

BFI is very useful when searching for various "best of's" but as a slight warning I'd like to say that those lists aren't entirely made up of titles that are readily available.
I wanted to see "Un Chant D'Amour" but it's a short film only available on US import and at that time I had already spent too much money on DVDs.
Some films I want to see are not available at all, it can be quite frustrating sometimes.

Yes, this is in large part what I meant about most of the intriguing ones having to wait until the round is over. After reading the lists I attempted to seek out some of them, but films like Un Chant... and Nighthawks were nowhere to be found.

I'm very intrigued by Weekend as it seems highly regarded in both lists but it's not free to watch on Prime and I plan to wait until it is. I know that makes me sound extremely cheap, but - whereas I was happy to pay for My Beautiful Laundrette, and I didn't hesitate to invest in the Blu-ray of my #1 choice immediately after streaming it - I'm just not sure I want to see this particular film that badly.

I think the most important thing is that you've discovered them because of the Top Ten thread.
The experience of watching (potentially) good films when those are no longer relevant to the Top Ten is more rewarding than posting the "perfect" list here on tellytalk.

Oh yes - you're absolutely right. No list - even one I'm 100% happy with at the time - is made in concrete, because there are always new experiences and new discoveries round the corner. And for me these often come from other people's lists, comments or discussions.

Six of my Top Seven (with Priscilla the exception) are films I've watched in the last couple of weeks. Of those six, Prick Up Your Ears is the only one I'd previously watched, so this has been a round of exciting new discoveries for me.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how obsessed I've been with Beautiful Thing since watching it for the first time last week. Apart from re-watching it once already, I've re-purchased the soundtrack, and invested in the recent Blu-ray for the bonus features and booklet (it arrived just this morning!). At the moment, it feels like the definitive film of its kind.

I'm afraid I don't have much for this one. For consistency, I approach these lists from the same perspective: which are my favorites, as in which have I rewatched the most? The answer here is : basically none. I started listing movies like PHILADELPHIA or BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, but I've never rewatched them and I am unlikely ever to do so. My list would have been "These are 10 movies I've seen and I vaguely recall not disliking them". And so, all I've got is ...

Edit: I had debated about including V/V originally, but decided not to since it's essentially a hetero-love story (albeit one with cross-dressing). Since it's now been included on another list, I decided to add it.

Thanks @Jimmy Todd for saving the honor of Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. Honestly, I can´t believe that nobody here but the two of us have watched his movies, most of them including LGTQ characters in their plots. Maybe it´s because his early films were "too" provocative, or maybe because you have to read subtitles if you don´t speak Spanish. It´s like suspense genre without Hitchcock, melodramas without Douglas Sirk, or period movies without Ivory-Merchant. I also encourage everybody to get deeper into other "gay movies" from Spain from early 80s onwards (from the 70s there is only one quality movie about trans people titled "Mi querida señorita").
