Okay so apparently your favorite movie from the 1950's is:
12 Angry Men (1957)
This is a court room drama starring Henry Fonda. It's special in the sense that almost all of the drama takes place in one set and the names of the characters are not revealed. It has a fly on the wall feel to it and the tension comes from the different personalities of the jurors who are trying to decide whether a boy is guilty of murder. The movie is directed by Sidney Lumet and is considered culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant by the American Film Institute and is to be preserved for future generations.

Ingrid Bergman was a Swedish actress. She was born on August 29th, 1915 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her father was a photographer and little Ingrid loved to dress up and model for her father’s camera. Her mother was German and Jewish. She moved to Stockholm after she married Ingrid’s father in Hamburg. The couple had a stillborn son several years prior to Ingrid’s birth and also another child who died as an infant when Ingrid was very young. When Ingrid was 3 years old her mother died of icterus. When her father also died several years later Ingrid Bergman was left an orphan at the age of 13. Ingrid began her career as an extra when she was 16. She studied one year at a dramatic institute at a college level before she dropped out to pursue a fulltime movie career. She became a star in Sweden and in 1936 Hollywood came calling for her. Ingrid Bergman was signed by David O Selznick and moved to Hollywood, California, USA.
Ingrid Bergman became an International star and her career blossomed in the 1940s. But then she fell in love with Italian movie director Roberto Rossellini and caused quite a scandal when she abandoned her daughter and divorced her husband to move to Italy. For six years she was shut out of Hollywood until she made a comeback with Anastasia (1956). She won her second Oscar for that part. Her first was for Gaslight (1940) and her final one was for Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
Ingrid Bergman died in London, England, from breast cancer, on her birthday in 1982, at the age of 67. But she’s left a legacy of films behind and is considered as one of the most important movie stars of all times by the American Film Institute. But which one of her movies is your favorite?

Ingrid has always been one of my favorite actresses since I was a teenager. She was probably the first star whose death impacted me back in those days (early 80´s), and a few other actresses died in the same time period (Natalie Wood, Romy Schneider, Grace Kelly...). I watched almost every movie she made and read a few books about her (not as many as Karin though!).

Every actor has a lot of books written about them or their career, not all has to be a tell-all book or personal memoirs. So there are many works on Ingrid´s career and I do have a few of them. I´m also sure there are other books about her or that mention her affair with Rossellini, for instance. There never is ONE official book about anybody, and much less with internet and all its info.

i have so many books written about Ingrid - but the one i hold most dear and the truth is Ingrid bergman - My story - written by Ingrid B and Alan Burgess. She did a lot of promoting of this book in late 1980 and at a time when she was quite ill again from cancer
I would kill to see her interview with parkinson in ?? oct/nov 1980 as she so captivated me. I bought her book the next week and i was still at school, it cost me £10 in hardback and that was an awful lot of pocket money for me and skipped train fares to school!! But it was a book i couldnt put down.
I regretted that i wasnt older and then i could have seen her on stage in London
Along with a friend I went to see where she lived in London a week before she died in Cheyne gardens, Chelsea, just off the Kings Road - i was on school hols and staying with relatives in North London. French magazine Paris match had a photo of ehr coming out of her flat earlier that summer and the address was very visible so it was easy to find.
She didnt come to the window so we were disappointed!! we didnt know at that time she was terminally ill and had gone back to Sweden for the very last time the week before she died on her 67th birthday.
When im in London, i still take a walk down the Kings Road, down Chelsea manor street and at the end before chelsea embankment is Cheyne gardens

The book I've read about Ingrid Bergman is the My Story that BF mentioned. It was a great book.
@Toni what had me confused was that you said I had read more books about IB than you have and that's not true as I've only read one!

John Christopher Depp II is an American actor, producer and musician. He was born on June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, USA. He is the youngest of four children and his mother was a waitress and his father a civil engineer. He is mostly of English descent and is remotely related to Queen Elizabeth II. But Depp also has some French and African descent. The family moved around a lot when Johnny was a child before settling in Florida in 1970. When Johnny Depp was 15 years old his parents divorced. Shortly thereafter he dropped out of High School to become a rock star. He moved to Los Angeles together with his band The Kids.
In Los Angeles Depp got an offer to star in a movie which was the horror slasher teenage hit A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984). This plus a role in the TV-series 21 Jump Street, ensured him teen idol status. His career had taken off and after this he kept moving on to more and more prominent roles.
Today he is considered one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood. He’s been nominated for three academy awards but never won the prize. He did win a Golden Globe for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) however.
