Some of you may be aware that we have installed an awards system. This can be seen through the navbar at the top of the main forum and each individual profile page. There is also a collection of awards underneath your avatars each time you post a message on the forums.
The crash of 2016 caused plenty of heartaches when we realised that no one had backed up the forums and 18 years of Ultimate Dallas/Soap Chat was lost. Everyone had to register again and we all started from scratch with our post counts and our likes/reactions. This means that we have to manually approve every award because the system, simply does not recognise when all our members registered before the crash.
We created an option where you can input your original start date on your profile. I have gone through everyone's profile and approved the awards for those who have reached various milestones, either via years service, post counts and reactions. Those who have left that option blank either have forgotten their original date or they joined after the crash.
As a regular member you have the option to recommend an award for another member, we will soon start to introduce various categories, such as funniest member, most informed member etc... Any member can receive multiple awards, however, members are only permitted to recommend one award per member per category. So, your best friend can not manipulate the system and give you the same award twice.
If you feel that you have been shortchanged with the awards, the system will allow you to request an award for yourself. This will come in handy for anyone who passes a milestone and doesn't receive the appropriate award.
All that said, you don't have to do anything, this is just there if you want to use it, no one should feel that they have to use this feature.
