The first episode killed this show

No, it was a separate set, like the nursery. It was recycled as Tom's bedroom in season 5.

Yes, that makes more sense -- the location of the door and the window.

The issue with Dynasty's sets wasn't the fact that they re-dressed some sets (all shows do), it's that they usually made no effort into distinguishing the rooms and giving them personality. It all feels very "off the rack", so to speak. We might make fun of some of the knick-knacks at Southfork, but it looked like people lived there. A cold, detached vibe to the mansion fit pre-Krystle moving in, but it does feel like there'd be a lot more flavour once she moved in.
The Colby's just did a better job with making it look like a home with actual people and personal touches.

The show runners for The Colby’s gave us the Adam went to hug Fallon which sent her to run off on her wedding night.
They rewrote a scene that we all watched in the season 4 finale and they disregarded Fallon’s head injury from getting hit by a car.
They should have explained her continued headaches and running off then disappearing / amnesia were caused by not really wanting to marry boring Jeff again and the inevitability of her hurting him and she being bored and screwing around on him.
Didn’t they remember season 3 “ did I do it to him” referring to Jeff’s behavior being poisoned and Fallon blaming herself, she could have turned all those feelings inward to explain her running off. The only problem was the character they cast and created for the spinoff was a wet, limp British dish rag that we were supposed to tune in each week to watch cry.
The Colby’s (Jason, Sable and Constance )should have been introduced in the season 6 opener of Dynasty. Connie should have insisted Jason try to get their neglected nephew alive or dead out of that country and get his son out from the Carrington’s out of respect for Philip. As well as wanting to incorporate Colby Co back into their company because of reports the bitch who wrongfully inherited it was killed . The only Dynasty characters in that episode should have been the servants and Sammy Jo, all trying to get information about who survived the wedding.
We should have seen who was killed (there should have been more) in television news reports
They based a spinoff on their weakest least developed character- Jeff Colby and a really horrible bad recast. It was destined to fail, especially with people tuning out to the crap they were delivering on the parent show, why would they watch the spinoff for more if it.
Shame on Richard Shapiro letting that show completely destroy his favorite character he created for Dynasty.

Possibly this is why I've heard people say that The Colby's was Pollock's!

Of course maybe I just misheard! ;) :D

Well, the Pollocks were billed as co-creators with the Shapiros for THE COLBYS. Likely a gift to Mike from her camping buddy, Maxi-Mike (Esther).

Richard and Robert, the recessive husbands, don't matter in this or any equations.

But Paul Huson said he and his partner, William Bast, were allowed to do pretty much what they wanted.

So much for equal rights for men. It already started, back then and there...

Well, Richard Shapiro and Robert Pollock were both apparently passive kinds of guys. Esther and Eileen were alpha-babes.

I guess it worked and worked naturally for them.

I view "Mike" and Doug Cramer as the main culprits. But on DYNASTY, in front of the camera and behind, there were so many villains that it's hard to keep up.

Are Stephanie and Katharine holding hands? That's so lovely! :love2:

Too bad, my pretty Charles van Eman is covered by Scoggin's hair :(
So here he is in all his beauty:
