Did she go too far? I suppose. It certainly didn't help.

But I really don't see how holding a piece of prop, even if the image suggests gore and violence, is anything remotely close to actually physically attacking someone - say, a journalist.

She gets dumped by CNN, the hothead GOP politician gets elected.

Griffin also apologized within hours. I'm still waiting to hear the Orange Bastard apologizing for the long list of his own misdeeds.

As for CNN, I suggest they dump those awful Trump apologists they hired, the grey-haired one whatever his name is and the ditzy blonde with a perpetually pissed off expression on her face. They rival the Spicers and the Conways of this world with their inane excuses for Trump's long list of inanities and hypocrisies.

I was listening to an NPR program this morning about whether Trump's rhetoric had increased violence and energized alt-right hate groups.

Numerous callers offered the similar complaint that when Muslims commit terrorist acts, it's never shown by the "liberal" media as being representative of the Muslim population as a whole, but when a white person commits a terrorist act, it's chalked up to those white supremacist groups being emboldened by Trump.

And that this (supposed) bias is (supposedly) unfair.

It's fascinating listening to these rightwingers rationalize their sense of unfairness, their twisted sense of outrage. And the women are even worse, more articulate, more exacting in their indignance.

One of the NPR guests, however, pointed out that it wasn't just media (leftist) bias against Trump that suggests his violent campaign rhetoric fueled this kind of racist fury, but that even the white power movements themselves are very open and direct about how they've been energized by Trump's presidency and feel they now have a friend in the White House.

One side think it's bad; the other things it's great. But they otherwise both say the same thing.

That argument, naturally, was too objective to impress the callers. But it seemed very important to them that Trump not be blamed for stuff. And Trump seems to agree with that goal, so that's nice.

Melania Trump responded by saying "As a mother, a wife and a human being, that photo is very disturbing. When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it." Interesting choice of words, considering her husband is clearly mentally unstable and is committing many of those atrocities.

Trump, of course, tries to elicit the same fake outrage he feigns on Twitter: “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” I suppose no one should've found it disturbing when he suggested that "the 2nd Amendment people" could stop Hillary Clinton:

Advocating assassination is apparently fine. Making a bad joke, on the other hand, is beyond the pale.

Speaking of which, Rush Limbaugh called Griffin a "tired, worn-out, dumb old woman" and said her apology was insincere. As for the GOP candidate that attacked a journalist, Limbaugh called him "studly" and "manly."

At least we know what turns him on.

I personally don't think she deserves this level of criticism and end of contracts with CNN. America and others have been dropping bombs on innocent people, killing children, men, women and soldiers for years. Look at Bush and Blair's illegal war. But when someone says off with the head of the president it's not ok? Bit double standards to me.
