1) The vineyards of Falcon Crest: The setting among the millions of grapes was untilised to it's full potential, during 2/3 of the show's time (through the seasons), providing sumptuous scenes for the viewer to enjoy. Use of the city, downtown Napa/Sonoma and the grounds to the other dwellings were the extra grapes to the vine, if you like - FALCON CREST.
2) The beach of Knots Landing: The beach adjacent to Sea View Circle provided a bit of distinction. Accompanied by the surroundings of Westfork, the Sumner Ranch and Lotus Point are enough for KL to get 2nd spot - KNOTS LANDING.
3) The Southfork lands: Acres upon acres of land made the Ewing location quite a place to watch. Despite being mostly flat it was as far as the eye could see and beyond. The use of the buildings and offices in Dallas were the extra gems - DALLAS.
4) The city setting for Racine et al.: As Frank Sinatra sang 'New York, New York' and it became the hub for this eighties show, about a modelling agency - PAPER DOLLS.
5) The surroundings to Blake's place: So much more could have been made of the scenery. It was a pity Denver wasn't used more and in around Filoli but there you go - DYNASTY.

Jock, Bobby and Ray are rounding up a herd of cattle, in one of the Southfork fields. Jock notices that something is wrong, (a scene from season 2, DVD-3, 1979 - '80):

Bobby: "Daddy I found a dead cow, up at the Braddock county line. Looks like screw-worm."

Jock: "Well that one has got screw-worm, that's for sure. If we don't take care of it fast we are liable to have an epidemic, on our hands. What about those Ray, they alright?"

Ray: "I found one in there, with screw-worm Jock."

Bobby: "We had better ride every posse. Take a look at every herd, in the morning."

Jock: "Good idea Bobby! We sure have a lot of ground to cover."

1- The whole Southfork property (as seen in the first 11 full years) and the city of Dallas, including both Wentworth mansions and both Shepard mansions.

2- The Falcon Crest property (minus that tacky Gioberti castle) and the city of San Francisco (FC).

Does anyone have clear pictures of the Sumner Ranch?
They always showed parts of it and I still don't know what the complete building looks like.

1. Falcon Crest

Of all the soaps this was the place I wanted to be magically transported to the most. The Tuscany Valley had such beautiful rolling hills, it always seemed so lush and romantic.

2. Dynasty

Mostly for what we got to see in season 1. The grounds of the mansion, the scenes with snowy mountains in distance. If only we'd had more of this.

3. Knots Landing

KL did seem to do quite a bit of shooting on location and I always enjoyed the beach scenes and the landscape around Westfork and the Sumner mansion.

4. Dallas

Southfork itself often seemed like flat nothingness that went on forever but events like rodeos and Marks polo match spring to mind as good location shoots. And of course downtown Dallas and particularly the skyline in the opening credits were always impressive.

5. The Colbys

The grounds of the mansion, especially the pool house, were gorgeous, and occasionally we got some nice locations such as downtown scenes and coastlines.
