The timeframe

Because the new dynasty takes place today, and not in the eighties, how do you think the time difference will affect the characters, and storylines.

How different will the estates, and offices be, with today's technologies?

I hope it won't be too much glass, steel and white walls. Dynasty needs a warm and rich texture, beautiful woodwork, heavy curtains/drapery and big fireplaces.
And please, no CGI, I'd hate that.

And I also hope that not every plotline involves cellphones and USB sticks but I guess it's inevitable.
Shame they've decided not to make it an eighties drama.

I think *some* CGI wouldn't hurt. Like if the characters are in a yacht out in the middle of the ocean, and they used a blue/green-green while filming for the water. Things like that would just be more practical.

Yeah I guess "in the middle of the ocean" would be a little problematiclol. Or they could put a tiny boat in a fishbowl and shake it to make it look like a sea storm. But when they film at the marina or something then it has to be the real thing.

True. Boat scenes tend to take place in marinas, so, who knows. We just gotta wait and see. :)

Hm, though thinking back, Gossip Girl seemed to film all on-location in New York, and even in France for one season. They might have had a few sets for regular apartment dwellings, but for the most part, it was all done in actual places in the Big Apple. So NuDynasty can do the same. :D

I agree with the look. It'll be crap otherwise. These are rich people. Blakes executive suite will be quite and well done with company apartments. His mansion will be rich not glossy American middle class all open. They'll have private jets, yachts, other houses, nice clothes - yet probably more comfortable then the original.

The will have modern technology, smart phones, computers with flash drives and the cloud, the kids will have the latest but Blake would keep up. Technolgy would change the estates it would get added in subtle ways.

I'm for CGI when done right. It'll give us so much more then any set could afford. But it has to look totally real. And the mansion needs to be a real place.

I wouldn't mind too much if the Carrington Offices had a sleek modern look however the Carrington mansion should be traditional. This is where their extravagant lifestyle should be on full display. Manicured lawns and gardens. Upon entering the residence we should see a draw-dropping staircase. The ground floor mansion should have high ceilings, large reception rooms, Ming's (don't forget the Ming's). China cabinets filled with family trinkets. Long hall-ways with house staff going about their duties. I want to watch something that is unattainable for most viewers. I want to feel a sense of "how the other half live." The trick with Dynasty 2.0 will be the characters themselves. I have to feel connected to them. They may have a self sense of superiority over others but just because their super wealthy doesn't mean they can be rude - otherwise I'll switch off.

That's an excellent way of putting it all! :D Yes, the offices should look sleek and modern (with the possible exception of Clint's office; that should look modern, but I think it'd be fun if it had touches of how the offices on MAD MEN looked; not a whole lot, just a similarity), but the mansion needs to look like Fairy Tale Land, so to speak. lol

Actually, one basis I'd use would be from an anime of all things:

Fallon wouldn't be Fallon, if she wasn't rude, with a tongue like a buggy whip.

You both raise good points. Though Fallon wasn't exactly rude - at least, not in a general sense. She was rude to Krystle, but she had a reason: she believed her new stepmother was a gold-digger. She was rude to Alexis, but Alexis abandoned her for 16 years. And she was rude to Jeff, but she didn't like him anyway. But when it came to everybody else, Fallon wasn't rude. She loved her father and brother, and she was charming to all the men she bedded. She was a little dismissive towards Sammy Jo, but I don't recall her being rude to her. In fact, she did put an effort into being friendly towards her once she, SJ, married Steven - and we know how THAT worked out. ^^

As for Blake and Steven, neither of them were rude. They could be pleasant in their own ways, particularly Steven: he was Krystle's first friend in the mansion. In fact, it was the staff who were rude to her, but even they got put in their place pretty quickly and began treating her better - except for Joseph, who still had his moments, but even he ended up behaving towards her in a pleasant manner (or at least, as pleasant as Joseph could possibly be, heh heh).

So yeah, I don't think there's too much to worry about. :)

The issue with re-booting a series like Dynasty is I have to feel really connected to the characters. If they appear shallow or callous just for entertainment value I think the rate of viewers will drop of rather rapidly. I don't wish Fallon to be straight out rude to Cristal 2.0. Cautious behaviour I can approve of. Fallon can easily display a protective nature when it comes to her father and brother since its been just the three of them for many years. Many children of divorced parents can relate to this. I wish to see Cristal enter a world where she feels completely out of her element. Perhaps Steven is the first to assist her, who knows...interesting times await us.

Again, good points. But right now all we can do is just wait and see.
