What's "truly desperate stuff" is your ability to twist and misrepresent what people are actually saying to suit your pre-conceived narrative.

I didn't say "never believe women." I said it's hard to prove rape claims from decades ago, and that the legal system is susceptible to human fallibility and biases. Big difference!

Also, I never once compared Hunter and Joe Biden's influence peddling scheme to Trump's rape conviction. If anything, I was equivocating it with Trump's hush money scandal.

Lastly, it's a blatant lie to say that I believe there's a "significant factor" to consider when choosing between Trump and Harris. You know I'm not voting for either of them, and I'm not telling other people how to vote either. I'm just exposing the hypocrisy and double standards that exist where Trump and the Dems are concerned. The problem is you always circle back to Trump's rape conviction. You act like that's the only abhorrent thing either candidate is guilty of when both Trump and Harris support funding a genocide.
People can read back all the posts and make up their own minds whether or not I've misrepresented you. I will add this though, there are many reasons why a woman delays reporting a rape and although that adds difficulties for a court to reach a verdict regarding whether she was abused, when it does reach a verdict, our reaction shouldn't be to cast doubt on it. Issues like the judge was appointed by Clinton is irrelevant when a jury, not the judge, reached the verdict and there was absolutely no evidence of the judge being biased. You are right to say "it's hard to prove rape claims from decades ago" which is why when it happens we have to appreciate the strength of evidence that made the jury come to that conclusion.

Also, claiming that because a rape survivor was funded by a Democrat supporter means we shouldn't have to accept the verdict is nonsense when that wouldn't have been a factor in the jury's decision. I'm glad that someone was there for the rape survivor so she could finally get the justice she deserved and I don't care what their political affiliations are any more than Trump cared about the political affiliations of the the woman when he raped her. Trump had a fair trial and the verdict was that the allegations of rape was "substantially true". I think we should accept that and not try to make excuses for Trump being found responsible.

I make no apologies for repeatedly bringing up that Trump is a rapist. Some crimes are so heinous that it should be a decisive factor in determining whether or not someone should be President. I'm not talking about unproven allegations, I'm talking about a court ruling on the facts.

Political decisions that a President makes while in office is, according to your Supreme Court, are not illegal so it's up to American voters to decide whether or not those are a factor for them to consider when deciding how they should vote. Trying to suggest there is any equivalence between those decisions and Trump committing rape is complete nonsense and shameful.

Hunter Biden should be irrelevant to this discussion because he's not standing to be President.

I don't need the opinions of others to KNOW you misrepresented me.

I never said people should or shouldn't accept the verdict. Trump's accuser had her day in court, and the jury found in her favor. My point is if a Democrat ex-president was found guilty of rape in a court with a Republican-appointed judge, partisans would say he had an unfair trial. Add a Republican paying some of the legal expenses, and you'd add fuel to the fire. It doesn't matter that a jury delivered the verdict because all partisans care about is optics. It's also hard to see how Trump could have an entirely fair trial when the media bias against him was so strong for years leading to the court case. I'm not saying the jury was influenced by that, but it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Both Trump and the Dems have supporters who only believe accusations when they're levied at the other side. The way Dems treated Brett Kavanaugh and Trump's accusers vs. how they treated Biden's says it all. Suddenly, "believe women" became "believe Democrat-supporting women." Even you don't seem to have much faith in Tara Reade's accusation with your "unproven allegations" remark. Would it even have a made a difference to you if the court had validated Reade's claim, or would you still support Biden?

Political decisions that a President makes while in office is, according to your Supreme Court, are not illegal so it's up to American voters to decide whether or not those are a factor for them to consider when deciding how they should vote. Trying to suggest there is any equivalence between those decisions and Trump committing rape is complete nonsense and shameful.
Making an equivalence between a rape conviction and funding a mass genocide is "complete nonsense and shameful" because the Supreme Court allows the latter? That says more about your priorities than it does mine. Both acts are truly heinous, but what's shameful is excusing genocide. Not to mention the fact that a potential rapist and certified child sniffer has occupied the White House for the last 3 years, and you've made every excuse in the book for him. If Trump showered with his daughter, you wouldn't dismiss it.

I've said I respect both Trump and Harris voters who believe they're making the pragmatic choice. However, believing one candidate is morally superior to another is ludicrous.

Hunter Biden should be irrelevant to this discussion because he's not standing to be President.
Right, his father has only been president for the last 3 years! Leading up to the 2020 election, former intel officials deemed Hunter's laptop "Russian disinformation." That turned out to be an intentionally false story planted to help Biden's chances. No big deal, right? If we were talking about Trump and his son, you'd be singing a different tune.

It's not ludicrous to believe Harris is morally superior than Trump. She's not a convicted felon...convicted by a jury of her peers. Trump is. She's never, as far as I'm aware even been accused of rape, let alone been convicted of it. Harris to our knowledge, hasn't stolen classified documents and refused to return them. Trump has. Harris has never said she grabs men by the penis and gets away with it cause she's famous. Trump has...etc, etc.

Harris at least acknowledges there needs to be a two state solution so the Palestinians can live in peace eventually and she denounced the killing of innocent Palestinians (now Lebanese). Trump does not. He just pretends he's the saviour of Jews and they need their head examined if they don't vote for him. So I'd say, Harris wins the morality title among the two by a landslide.

As for Hunter, he's at least facing the prospect of real jail time. Trump's crooked offspring are not and neither is Trump. So again, that's a losing argument....but Hunter's laptop!

We have different standards. Funding a genocide in Gaza and a war in Ukraine does not equate to moral superiority to me. "Ceasefire" and "two state solution" are just buzz words. The Democrats always pretend to be advocates of diplomacy, even though they support and fund these wars as much as Republicans do. Dick Cheney and the rest of the neocon mutants didn't support Harris because she's the peace candidate. Trump wants to end funding for the Ukraine war, which is the only reason they're backing Harris.

Harris also owns the legacy of the Biden Administration. As VP, it's reasonable to believe she supported his decisions. Apparently, the border didn't matter until an election year. As prosecutor, she fought to uphold wrongful convictions and to keep nonviolent offenders locked up to be used as cheap prison labor. She cracked down on marijuana offenses, despite laughing about smoking it herself. She supports fracking, despite her purported concern about climate change. So yes, she's not morally superior to Trump.

On top of that, Biden didn't fight to raise the minimum wage like he promised, and he oversaw an inflation crisis. Are we really supposed to believe Harris's newfound concern for the middle class is real? Again, we're supposed to forget that she was VP for the last 3 years. Harris acts like she's bringing something new to the table, but if she truly plans on offering something different, why didn't she object to Biden's policies? Obama promised to implement the public option, codify reproductive rights, and end all of the wars.

It turned out he was full of crap just like Biden. That means Harris is likely full of crap too.

As for Hunter, he's at least facing the prospect of real jail time. Trump's crooked offspring are not and neither is Trump. So again, that's a losing argument....but Hunter's laptop!
It's not a losing argument. Dems falsely called Hunter's laptop "Russian disinformation," yet they believe every accusation against Trump (including the alleged "pee tape.")

Hunter's also the bottom of the barrel. The bigger issue is that war criminal presidents (including Trump) are never held accountable. So much for those "checks and balances."

That's false equivalence. The only reason Trump wants to stop funding Ukraine is because he's under Putin's orders to do so. By the way, doing so only increases the likelihood of more innocent civilians dying. The Ukrainian people aren't going to concede defeat just because US money dries up. You've never met a Ukrainian who believes in democracy and loves their country if you believe they will.
Securing the border didn't matter to Trump either when he ordered the bill quashed. We've been down this road before.
All politicians need to make decisions sometimes they don't enjoy or fully believe in. It's the nature of the beast. Just like having to order the take down of a hijacked plane with 300 innocent lives on board if it's flying towards a packed stadium of people.
BTW, your prison labor thing was actually the California Justice Department lawyers, not Harris herself as AG. I could refute all but my posts get too long.

Politician's agendas also get stopped by a partisan senate and a Congress that is divisive and wants to sabotage the other party's goals.
Being VP is mostly just a title with little power other than being 2nd in command in the event the President can't continue. You know that so why try to sell the Republican talking points of "why hasn't she done it in 3 years"? The obvious response is...Trump was actually 1st in command for 4 years. Why didn't he "make America great again" then? On a side note, I'd argue that America is pretty great still and it's traitorous to say otherwise.. Not as great as Canada of course (hehe).

Of course they're never held accountable as President's but as civilians they should be. Like I said, Hunter will likely do jail time unless Biden pardons him. He says he won't. We'll see if he believes some jail time would do Hunter well as some tough love.
So I still say when it comes to morality as a whole (we're all flawed somewhat), Kamala Harris is vastly superior to the p.o.s. Trump who continues to inflame the racist divide for his own selfish agenda....and is a convicted felon.

How do you know that Putin ordered Trump to stop funding Ukraine if he becomes president? And why does the US have the right to insert itself into these conflicts at all?

By pouring billions of dollars into these wars, we ensure they last indefinitely. That increases civilian deaths. It's a racket that enriches politicians and military contractors.

Securing the border didn't matter to Trump either when he ordered the bill quashed. We've been down this road before.
It also didn't matter to the Biden Administration and their fellow Dems until 3 years after Biden took office. They're all opportunists who use the border as a political football.

All politicians need to make decisions sometimes they don't enjoy or fully believe in. It's the nature of the beast. Just like having to order the take down of a hijacked plane with 300 innocent lives on board if it's flying towards a packed stadium of people.
I have a more cynical view of politicians. I believe some of them get into politics for altruistic reasons, but they become corrupted along the way. That's the nature of the beast.

There are times when the greater good argument is valid, but that doesn't include spending billions on foreign wars while leaving the poor and middle class to suffer.

BTW, your prison labor thing was actually the California Justice Department lawyers, not Harris herself as AG. I could refute all but my posts get too long.
"Lawyers under the oversight of then-Attorney General of California Kamala Harris argued in 2014 against the release of nonviolent criminals because they wanted to keep them for cheap labor." To be fair, Harris said she "was shocked and troubled" by that argument," and "directed the department’s attorneys not to make that argument again.”

I guess it's a matter of whether or not you believe she didn't know what the lawyers in her office were doing.

Source: Kamala Harris office sought to keep inmates locked up so that California could use them for cheap labor - Washington Examiner

Right or wrong, vice presidents are tied to the president's agenda. They're forced to defend the president's record, which ultimately means they have to own it.

Presidents face obstacles in the House and Senate, but there are pressure tactics they can use. As for the minimum wage, Biden deferred to the unelected parliamentarian.

I'm not a defender of Trump's presidency, so you'll get no argument from me about that. As far as making America "great again," that means different things to different people. IMO, a country's leadership shapes how great it is. We have some great places and some great people, but we have terrible leaders who prioritize themselves, their donors, and imperialism over the needs of their citizens. The US is great in many ways, but it's our corrupt political system that is traitorous IMO. Sadly, I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Of course they're never held accountable as President's but as civilians they should be. Like I said, Hunter will likely do jail time unless Biden pardons him. He says he won't. We'll see if he believes some jail time would do Hunter well as some tough love.

They're both morally bankrupt to me for different reasons. The degree to which that's true may vary, but I just can't bring myself to vote for one over the other.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Trump said he would end the war on day one of his presidency. The only way that is possible is if he allows Russia to keep the land gains it has made at the expense of Ukraine. Trump is advocating exactly what Putin wants to achieve.

If Putin defeats Ukraine he will then be looking to invade Poland, which is a NATO ally. Supporting Ukraine now is to prevent a NATO war against Russia. That is what gives the USA the right to insert itself into the current conflict. Whether or not you agree with the action, the USA has the right to be involved.

I'm not a defender of Trump's presidency

When the US acts as the world's police force, it invariably makes things worse. It enriches military contractors and politicians at the expense of civilians. It also ensures that these wars continue indefinitely. Believing that the US should fund endless foreign wars has always been the neocon position, but Dems and faux liberals have also adopted it.

The US can't end the war, but we can end our involvement in it. Wars are a never-ending money pit. US citizens deserve to have their tax dollars invested at home and used for our defense. Of course, the US wanted this proxy war. They lied about expanding NATO, and they backed a coup in 2014 that installed a pro-Western government in Ukraine.

Funny, I also do a spit take whenever I hear you try to convince me that Biden and Harris are decent and compassionate.

And unlike your unwavering support for Democrats, I've actually called out Trump for giving tax cuts to the wealthy, supporting Israel's genocide, and his xenophobic views.

Trump's latest threat to "blow Iran to smithereens" is also vile and disgusting. Aside from wanting to stop funding the Ukraine War, Trump's a war monger just like the Dems.

As you know, I'm a Harris fan, but here she's just as vacuous as any of them who keep chanting the phrase "two state solution" like a magic incantation without any clue of what it looks like or how to get there. My country's leaders say it, too. I'm sorry to say it, but I'm afraid the only way it ends is when one side finally destroys the other.

I prefer to be more optimistic with humanity. The real way it ends is when people realize their leaders are using them as pawns for their own selfish gains (refusing to participate in direct battle but ordering/brainwashing others to do so instead.
We also need to stop seeing those with different religions and skin colour as less than human and realize that the vast majority of people on both sides of every war, are genuinely good people who just want a peaceful life.
Netanyahu and Putin are war hawks who are very much cowards themselves. I definitely believe in due process of course...but would I prefer for someone to "remove" them from power as opposed to tens of thousands of innocents dying.?? Absofreakinlutely.

Trump can't end the war. The US and Trump thinking they control the Ukrainian people is just arrogance. They won't go down without fighting to their last breath.

@Frank Underwood of course I don't know Trump works for Putin. However, I think Trumps' time in Moscow for the beauty pageants, likely left a lot of opportunity for blackmail on the table. Anyone who thinks partier Trump wouldn't have sampled some pretty young Russian women (possibly even provided by Putin) while he was there, hasn't been paying attention to Trump. That leaves Trump a viable security threat.

As for the Haitians of this thread...they didn't leave their tropical island and move to Springfield Ohio because they wanted to. Their homeland has been decimated by earthquakes and subsequent crime. The foreign aid was gobbled up by the rich, leaving others in squalor. It's the same old thing with every poor nation. Those of us lucky enough to be born in freedom and peace, steal all of the world's resources without caring about the less fortunate. The only time some people seem to "care" is when those people come looking for their fair share...rightfully so too.

I agree, but many countries are sadly run by imperialists (the US included.) Even if you remove them, another imperialist usually comes along to take their place.

A US President can't control the actions of a sovereign country, but I don't believe they should be funding the war effort in excess of 100 billion dollars either.

The only way to rid yourself of a defeatist mentality like that (another imperialist takes their place) is to try, try and try again.
I would hope history wouldn't be kind to those who'd abandon Ukraine (and Gaza, etc.) to let the Putins and Netanyahu's of the world win. I know I don't want my government to stop funding Ukraine's defense or humanitarian aid to Gaza, etc. It's not like the $100 billion isn't being returned to Americans in some way. For example, you're not providing Ukraine with the best, most recent weaponry. So you're getting rid of old military inventory essentially and Americans are building new inventory. That creates jobs in several areas and puts more tax dollars in the coffers.

The Haitians came legally and most came before Biden's term to my knowledge. The town of Springfield citizens and leaders all say the Haitians filled empty job positions and are an asset to the community....except the racist ones. Then the current racist Republicans trounce on an internet rabbit hole to stoke the fear and divide.
Bottom line is, Trump brings another 4 years of stoking racism, chaos, division and loyalty to Putin. He only cares about exacting revenge on his perceived enemies and couldn't really care less about making America better. As far as innocent civilians abroad are concerned...Trump says about entire countries, he'll "blow them off the map". The 1st 4 years in office, Trump at least had to tow the line for potential re-election. That term was crazy over the top chaotic, so imagine what an unleashed Trump will do for himself in an additional 4 years where he can't be re-elected.

Harris in my opinion is at least stable, intelligent and I honestly believe she truly wants to make positive change for the country. She's not consumed with revenge and staying out of prison like her opponent.

We wish that we had two much better candidates for President, but sadly we're stuck with Trump and Harris. I would much rather have DeSantis as President, but that's not going to happen in this election. We have to ask ourselves if we're better off than we were 4 years ago and we honestly aren't. I don't call having money in our 401k accounts, prosperity, and deterrent strength to keep countries that want to harm us and our allies in check "over the top chaotic". What will be "over the top chaotic" is 4 more years of the mess that Harris and Biden have created. Would I want to work for or spend any time with Trump? Absolutely not, but it's either him or Harris, and the country is much better off with him as President than her.

That's only because Hunters's days of selling access to his father are thankfully coming to an end. If Biden was still running for re-election, Hunter would be 100% relevant.

If what happened to you and your fellow Americans financially in the last 4 years is the fault of Biden/Harris, how come we have the same high inflation, higher priced daily expenses, housing shortages and lack of savings account balances in Canada and all over the world since Covid and the resulting world supply chain/worker shortages?

What I remember about 4 years ago worldwide was hospital staff needing to re-use their PPE, work exhaustion from front line workers, people hoarding toilet paper and Tylenol, thousands of people dying unnecessarily and so on. Trump called it the "China virus" but he's the one who was in charge when it ran rampant.
Even with starting his term trying to clean up the Covid mess, Biden/Harris have had record stock market increases, low unemployment, most people are vaccinated against Covid (despite Trump trying to downplay the importance of vaccinations), inflation rates are decreasing, etc.
What's needed now is a higher minimum wage, tax breaks for the middle class, etc. Which party will be willing to do that?! I've never known Republicans to want to pay minimum wage earners more money or give tax breaks to anyone other than the top 1%.
I certainly never got the impression Trump ever kept countries who sought to harm the US in check. If anything he cowers and recoils to Putin. So it's interesting how revisionist history and selective memory happens.

Hunter will possibly do jail time. When will Trump's kids be charged with crimes?
The so-called weaponized DOJ is even holding Democratic NYC mayor to account for crimes while the Democrat Governor stands back. They're even doing it just before a national election so I guess they just go after the corrupt, not just corrupt Trump and his minions.

Even if Hunter gets jail time, the "Big Guy" will pardon him. Screwing his brother's widow and getting her hooked on crack is far worse than anything that Trump's kids have ever done. And the charges against the mayor are retaliation for him speaking out and asking for help with the migrant crisis, that is indeed weaponization and just the beginning if Harris is elected.

Talk about "selective memory". Dr. Liar Liar Pants On Fire Fauci is responsible fo the gross mishandling of Covid, not Trump. Trump's mistake was listening to Fauci instead of firing him. Fauci knew damn well that the viirus.came from a lab in China and that we just needed to protect the moat vulnerable population of the elderly and immunocompromised, everyone else was going to be just.fine. He is the reason that scared patients died without their loved ones who didn't get to say goodbye,, people lost their businesses, and that our kids have so many social and emotional problems and are behind in their education because they weren't in school. We got our lives back because Trump ramped up the approval and production of the vaccines. If Fauci and the DNC had their way, we'd all still be in lockdown. And if Putin felt that he had Trump "cowering and recoiling" so much ,why did he wait to invade Ukraine until Biden and Harris were in office? Why did Hamas wait to attack Israel until Biden and Harris were in office? They knew better than to do it when Trump was in office. And the only reason that China hasn't invaded Taiwan yet is that they're waiting to see if Harris gets elected and they can get away with it. If you seriously think that giggling incompetent Harris won't get eaten alive by world leaders who want to do us harm, you're deluding yourself.

@KayLloyd Why didn't Trump pressure Fauci's boss to fire Fauci if that's the case? You can't say everything is Biden and Harris's fault but then refuse to cast blame for things Trump was in charge for. Trump's handling of Covid was pathetic.

It's just a bit arrogant to suggest that foreign dictators and terrorists wait for the results of US elections before acting on their plans. If they cared, 9/11 wouldn't have happened on Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush's watch. They were among the most well known war hawks in the world.
Do you truly believe Russia, Iran and China have any fears whatsoever of any US government, responding militarily to their aggression? It's a known worldwide fact, the US only invades small nations with small military forces which can offer little or no resistance other than messy urban warfare. You only got involved in WW II after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and brought the war to your soil.
So spare me the tough, Trump bravado BS lol.
Republicans seem to hold a lot of disdain for a woman who laughs and feels joy (giggles). I'd look into why that is if I were you.
