Transition patterns in openings...

Just thought you might find this interesting: our favorite O-R ABC Dynasty was not the only series that used an on-screen pattern to lead into the first scene of its opening (Dynasty, and also The Colbys, using those Y patterns); another one that used one (and the only other one I know of, also on ABC) was The Streets of San Francisco (1972-77 ABC police/detective series w/the late Karl Malden as Lt. Mike Stone, and Michael Douglas [1972-76] as Inspector Steve Keller; Richard Hatch replaced Douglas for the final go [1976-77] as Inspector Dan Robbins).

There's this obscurity from 1980 - The Yeagers - which appears to be some sort of Dallas-esque drama about a logging business. It only aired for two episodes on ABC before getting the chop. The titles themselves have a hint of Dynasty in terms of the layout and the font colour.

The titles themselves have a hint of Dynasty in terms of the layout and the font colour.

The titles are very Dynasty. And yet it was pre-Dynasty. How interesting!
