According to the article, the role of Jackie wasn't planned at all. Troy Beyer reportedly called the studio for months, sending photos of herself because she wanted to be on the show. Eventually, Aaron Spelling and Esther Shapiro invited her, and she revealed her idea of playing Dominique's daughter. The producers were so enthusiastic about the suggestion that they created the character of Jackie.

The bit about Whoopi Goldberg appears to be true (though back then, Whoopi was just plain old Karen Johnson) but I highly doubt that part about pestering the producers of Dynasty to hire her; the author of the article likely had no idea she was already employed at the time as Whitney on Knots Landing and thus did not "need" the work.

Yup, I read on a French website years and years ago that Troy Beyer had Whoopi Goldberg as a babysitter. I also read somewhere else that Troy's own parentage was very similar to Jackie's (maybe the writers were simply copying real life); she had a white parent and a black parent (I forget which was the mother/father), and one of them was in the music business like Dominique.

But I'm surprised to find that they were going to have Troy Beyer kiss Gordon Thomson! Were they going to do another incest thing, or were they just making sure they should cast her as Adam's cousin before making her into a love interest? ...Actually, making her into a love interest probably would have been more interesting. ^^

But I'm REALLY surprised - and even a little creeped out - that John Forsythe allegedly kissed Troy Beyer. I mean... WHAT THE HECK?! Dude, she's young enough to be your granddaughter! Then again, I suppose he was just showing her that it was "just acting"; after all, Forsythe didn't like Joan Collins yet he did a few kissing scenes with her anyway. I just hope Troy was okay with it.

Exactly, they underused Jackie in my opinion, they could have still had Leslie who was a direct Amanda replacement (though in my version of season 8 Amanda is still around and grieving Micheal Culhane and goes on a revenge spree)

But Leslie would be the one to sleep with Jeff, while Leslie has the affair with Sean Rowan
