Watching Mad Men......for the third time

I love this series! Its definitely one of the best shows ever made in recent years, Don Draper, ever the complicated, chauvinistic, yet sometimes chivalrous male, Pete is the epitome of the spoilt member of America's most powerful class: The WASP's at the time.

Most intriguing was Betty, I know alot fans dislike her, but I felt very sorry for her, she was a woman of her time, born into the 1930s, a teenager in the 1940s (I'd loved to have seen more of the 1940s in the series, especially since this was the era where most of the characters were teenagers) and a housewife by the 1950s & 60s, she never has the same freedoms as her daughter Sally (another delightful character) who born in the 50s, has enjoyed the freedoms of the 60s, and will inevitably go on to become a yuppie in the 1980s.

Peggy is perhaps the bravest of the characters, since she truly is the outsider to begin with who has to fight her way to the top, without losing any of her femininity

I'll probably watch MAD MEN a 4th, 5th and 200th time and I wouldn't tire of it.

I have all seven seasons on DVD. I like the '60s angsty vibe the show more-or-less gets right -- or as right as a contemporary TV series could ever be expected to.

I do have a bit of a problem with the vocal fry issue which causes most of the actresses to read as obviously contemporary -- except for Christina Hendricks, who is perfect and totally reads as being of that era.

And sometimes... just occasionally, mind you... I wish there was a wee bit more of a plot.

She wasn't always very likeable, and I didn't feel sorry for her. But she was one of my favourite characters. The great thing about Mad Men was that you never knew what to expect, or how these characters would react.

I liked Dr Faye, she was quietly intriguing, hated how Don treated her but in a way she had a lucky escape.

Megan on the other hand seemed too perfect and too Mary Sue-ish to begin with.
