Weird dreams

I dreamed last night that I was watching Falcon Crest. Erin Jones and Jordan Roberts were running through a forest and suddenly Erin started stabbing Jordan with a knife. In my dream I thought I didn't know this happened on the show, but the scene turned into a bloodbath similar to a slasher movie and I was amazed that Falcon Crest was so cruel. In the next scene, Jordan was already missing and people were looking for her in the forest, including Angela and Lance, who Erin was with. They stopped and looked around, and Erin noticed that the leaves under which she had buried Jordan were moving. Angela and Lance continued their search while Erin stayed behind, took out the knife and attacked Jordan again epically and with a lot of blood. In the dream I thought Falcon Crest was never that cruel and yet I thought Maggie's death was cruel so what I'm currently watching makes sense, but then I realized that Jordan had never died and woke up.

Maybe I had this dream because Scream is currently in the media and I had just seen Morgan Fairchild on General Hospital.

Last night (or, rather, early this morning) I dreamed I ran into, in a bustling and somewhat upscale shopping mall, someone I'd "known" for years from the Internet.

It seems unlikely that we would have agreed to meet voluntarily. Oddly, he's fairly pleasant and we agree to get a bite or a drink. But as we're walking to a semi-Victorian bistro on the mall, someone recognizes him and pulls him away to the side so they can chat. They soon part, I guess, and the two of us wind up strolling into the restaurant anyway and we go to sit down, but then it happens again -- he's approached by someone else he knows and they go off together.

I see this as a fated sign that we should never meet to converse face-to-face.

During my nap this evening (I only "nap" now instead of "going to bed") my mother, five years dead, is doing crazy things like flushing shoes down the toilet. My sister-in-law calls but is very unsympathetic to my plight. Then I grab my mother in an attempt to strangle her to death -- even to hang her (and for good damned reason, I'd like to point out) except the noose won't quite work, and then Mom says, "It doesn't matter. It is fated..." and tells me that I'm destined to die by canoe.

My mother wasn't full-sized, maybe a 15-inch kind of in-effigy doll, and I was having trouble getting the tiny noose around her neck.

I forgot to post this strange follow-up: a couple of weeks later, in real life, I received a call (I was napping, so I missed it) from someone who didn't leave a message, but the Caller I.D. said "Big Canoe" -- a small town within the state in which I live of which I'd never heard.

My dreams this past week have been kind of all over the place.

I had the recurring dream again that I always seem to have that I go back to live in my childhood hometown only to instantly regret it. It was so bad this time that when I woke up I had to check around to make sure I was back in 2024 and my current home.

Last night I dreamt that someone (perhaps me but I’m not sure) was thrown out of a hotel window and fell a couple of stories only to crash through the windows of a different building and land right in the middle of an ongoing wrestling match.

Recently I had a dream about my dearly departed mom and grandmother. It was a very long dream and I can’t remember what exactly they were saying to me but it felt like they were either letting me know they are both okay or genuinely concerned about something.

I also keep having a recurring dream about a coworker that retired a year and a half ago. We were very close but unfortunately lost touch and I keep meaning to check in with them but I never seem to get around to it. Maybe I should pick up the phone and reach out.

Well, he appeared again. We were in a small crowd on some lawn somewhere. We went up to each other and I told him he "looked healthier" than the last time I'd seen him.

We then met, again, in a bistro-bar for a drink. He was much nicer than I think he'd be in real life -- but then I became paranoid that he was setting me up in some way.

Where the heck is this bistro??

I do eat in my dreams! But not enough because I wake up extremely hungry!

I see that some of you have dreams with continuity with other previous dreams. Right now I have several different timelines in my dreams and I´d love to know how I choose one or another when I´m asleep. In one of them I have met several "Dallas" actors (including VP, who always comes across as fan-hating b*tch from hell, sorry to say that...).

Through the years, the basic pattern of my dreams have evolved. For a while, my dreams were oddly mundane -- usually just recreations of specific memories. I particularly disliked these dreams because they were so repetitive, making me feel like I was still in high school 15 years after I graduated or that after working an 8 hour shift, I'd work another 7 hours while dreaming about work. I'm glad those dreams have faded.

Then, for a while, my dreams were surprisingly fun. I often dreamt about TV shows, particularly one I had watched shortly before bed. My subconscious would create an entirely new episode of, say, GOLDEN GIRLs, sometimes with me interjected. There must be a talented script writer buried somewhere in me, because I'd often wake up chuckling at how funny the dream had been.

Lately my dreams particularly unsubtle indicators of my current emotional well being. I can go weeks or months without having dreams; or, I suppose, they're placid enough that I don't recall them. When I do remember my dreams, they're chaotic and fretful -- clear indicators that something is bothering me. They're usually a weird jumble of people and places in my life that had no connection, with some underlying message that is so brutally incisive that I wake up with hurt feelings.

I wish I'd go back to dreaming about sitcoms.

Last night I dreamt that I was at a customer’s house. She left me alone in the kitchen to go do something and as I was standing there I noticed her purse sitting on the kitchen table. It was open but appeared to be totally empty. I went outside to get some leaves and filled the purse up with them. Not sure what this means.

But the purse wasn't really empty when you looked inside it. You were suppressing your act of theft and literally camouflaged it with the leaves.
However, since the theft is only symbolic, it means you've done something else in real life.
Is there something you need to tell us?

I wonder if unknowingly I did just this because your theory does make sense. Perhaps I took something valuable? Now I feel bad.

Nothing I can think of offhand but now I’m hoping this becomes a recurring dream just so I can figure out if I am indeed a kleptomaniac.

A couple of days ago, I dreamed about a former friend's father, dead now 40 years. Once again, it's eerie how well your brain can conjure a long-deceased person you didn't even know terribly well even at the time.

He and I were conversing in my house, and I was being irritable for some reason. The conversation wound down and we walked down the hall -- me headed to the bathroom and he to the master bedroom at the far end of the hall whereupon he sat down in the doorway of the bedroom and said goodbye.

I woke up from the dream about 1:30a.m. got up and walked down the hall to go to the bathroom -- and there, on the threshold of the master bedroom door, right on the very spot where he'd sat down in my dream, was a creepy, ghostly beam of moonlight streaming in from the window a room away... What's notable about that is that it's a very dark, isolated corner of the house where little light, let alone moonlight, ever reaches. I'd never seen this happen before.

All I could think was: Gee -- fairy moon-butt stuff.

That is quite eerie! It reminds me of a dream I had many years ago one night. I dreamt of this woman that I had never met before. In the dream we were friends and seemed to share some kind of bond. We genuinely seemed to care about one another in a brother-sister type way, yet when I awakened the next morning I had no idea who she was. Her face was still vivid but it was no one I knew. It certainly wasn’t my real sister but in the dream that’s exactly what she felt like. It was a powerful friendship and it felt like I knew her my whole life.

I shrugged it off to perhaps eating too much the night before but then the next day I walked into a doctor’s office. The first thing I saw when I walked in was the woman I had dreamt of. She was sitting on a chair in the waiting room reading a magazine and wearing the exact same colors she was wearing in the dream. She looked up at me and then went right back to reading her magazine. It was definitely her but I never spoke to her. I mean, “Hi, I’ve never met you before but you were actually in a dream of mine last night and I think you might be my long lost sister” isn’t exactly a good conversation starter so I left it alone. ‘Til this day the oddest dream I’ve ever had.
