I was wondering what if Kathy Beale had returned in 2001 instead of Sharon Watts?
It's almost the same as asking what if Sharon Watts had taken a 20 year break from 1995-2015 instead of returning in 2001 onwards?
Obviously both of the above characters were THE loves of the Mitchell Brothers lives.
When I think back to both Kathy and Sharon, they both also went through phases were they both had a short pixie/bobcut hairstyle also.
There may have been a possibility of Sharon taking over the Bridge Street cafe too at some point, considering how Kathy has done barmaid work before, going back to THE very first episode of EastEnders in 1985.
