What Was The Absolute Worst Thing Someone Did On Dallas?

I think this is a hard question because there’s a ton to choose from. The first thing that comes to mind for me is JR dealing with a terrorist just to drive up oil prices. I could also say Jock putting JR and Bobby in a contest for Ewing Oil that destroyed lives and marriages.

Those are just a couple of mine. Interested in hearing other’s opinion.

The absolute worst thing ever done in Dallas was Walt Driscoll ramming JR's car off the road when Sue Ellen was driving it drunk and poor Mickey Trotter trying to stop her.

Mickey of course survived but was paralysed from the neck down. Sue Ellen survived virtually unscathed.

Walt Driscoll went to see Mickey in the hospital and he sobbed uncontrollably at what he had done. He took his own life afterwards!

It looked as if Mickey would make a full recovery but unfortunately he slipped back into a coma & never regained consciousness.

All this because JR was selling oil to an embargoed country - Cuba. However it wasn't totally JR's fault, Bobby and Ray switched Driscoll's briefcase so that he'd get arrested for carrying unlicensed guns.

Two men dead because of the Ewing's!

The circumstances of Mickey's death was worse because his life support equipment was switched off and Ray Krebbs got arrested for murder! :(

Katherine Wentworth mowing down Bobby Ewing in the driveway. It that moment we witnessed how vile another human being can be. If Katherine couldn't have Bobby then nobody can appeared to be her modus operandi. I know it all came to naught but good grief that was despicable.

JR taking the baby away from Valene might be the worst thing that happened off-screen, although I think Jock did some pretty bad stuff in the 20's and 30's.

The worst thing on-screen was JR going to jail and viewers had to watch. It was the worst thing writers have done to viewers.

Maybe not the worst thing someone did on Dallas but one scene where JR is particularly despicable springs to mind. Edgar Randolph is in hospital after overdosing, a suicide attempt because JR was blackmailing him about his past. JR pays him a visit to let him know that even suicide is not a way out of the bind that he's in, and that even if he tries again and succeeds he will still expose his dark secrets, not only ruining his reputation but destroying his family and their memory of him.
Talk about kicking a man when he's down. This was JR at his most cruel and heartless.

Psychological cruelty towards Sue Ellen in the first 10 years of marriage and afterwards are part of this same kind of vile behavior by J.R. Ewing, as well as the blackmail perpetrated against Kit Mainwaring and ... the even more heinous one against Lauren Ellis.

On a really sad level and depending on who you believe Wes Parmalee was.

I think Jock walking away from his own family was possibly one of the worst and the saddest things to ever happen on the show.

Steve Forrest was such a terrific actor. For anyone who says that bringing Jock back with another actor was a slight at Jim Davis I just don't believe that for a moment. If anything it would be a tribute to him. Jim gave a lovely performance as Jock, it was a sad day when he left us however I think Steve could've honoured his legacy if he'd been allowed to stay on the show as a Jock Ewing re-cast.

They were both great actors and what made the Ben Stivers/Wes Parmalee storyline's so compelling was the possibility that this man really could be Jock.

Those X ray results are hard to ignore, so let's just enjoy the late great Jim Davis as the Ewing patriarch and Steve Forrest as possibly the Ewing patriarch returned from the dead. :)

To be fair, Bobby was caught between a rock and a hard place because of Pam. But JR was absolutely slime for this.

Yeah but that was the appeal of the character.

JR being evil was undoubtedly worth watching but I always loved the way in which he'd play his family off each other.

Even Jock and Miss Ellie weren't off his radar either when Jock admitted after getting shot in the Dove Hunt that he was married before!

Just a shame they diluted his character down in the final four seasons. :(

The worst thing IMO anyone did on Dallas and JR did most of them so it's him. When JR bought in Lisa Alden to sue for custody of Christopher to get Bobby to throw in with him in his attempt to take over weststar was I think the worst thing he did wasn't that long after Pams accident and Christopher was all Bobby had Lucas was getting raised by Jenna ray it was Jr's lowest act and there are a lot to choose from

I'm surprised this didn't cause Bobby to really cut JR out of his life, or at least least beat him so badly JR ended up in a hospital.

To the original question: not cancel it after the dream season?

Maybe someone could have had a two-year dream, like Bobby, comatose after Katherine shot him. Seriously. That Donna Reed is part of the dream, too. Is that any weirder than what they did?, and it would have explained things they didn't.

Maybe that was the worst thing someone did on DALLAS: reviving Bobby via a dream without using it to eliminate Mis-Ellie!
