Within the last week I finished

Different Seasons by Stephen King. The Body (Stand by Me) was particularly outstanding.
Night Bait by Edward Lee. Included a harrowing chapter on street prostitution.
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. What a bitch that Scarlett is. "I don't give a damn," indeed.

That's cool. I didn't even know that there was an original novelisations for "Man From Atlantis".
Yeah, the pilot movie and the three following telefilms - Death Scouts, Killer Spores & The Disappearances (retitled as Ark of Doom) - were all published as paperbacks written by Richard Woodley.

I've just finished "Being And Nothingness" by Sartre. Some people really need to cheer up. Also, for all you fuddy-duddy Mary Whitehouse fans out there, it's okay, there's no sex in it.

Susan Coolidge's follow-ups to the Katy Did trilogy, or as we would say today, spin-offs, focusing on Katy's sister Clover and their extended family.

I've just finished reading Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" and I'll be starting Enid Blyton's "Five On Kirrin Island" tomorrow.

He was a right nasty bastard, wasn't he. Julian from the Famous Five, I mean.

"Astrid Lindgren's war diaries".

They were about the second world war from 1939 to 1945 and included a bunch of old newspaper cuttings and also reflections upon what was happening in the world at the time mixed with some info about her domestic life and work. It was a fascinating account about how people in Sweden thought of the war when it happened. How people were afraid of being occupied by Russia and how some civilians were killed in the war even in Sweden. There was a story of a submarine that had been hit by a German mine and disappeared into the sea. Stuff that I had no clue about. There were also rumors about the mistreatment of Jewish people in the work camps. How people longed for the war to end. How some food were hard to get hold of and they had to have cupons per household to buy things. Some of the stuff I recognize from what my grandparents have told me about that time but reading Astrid Lindgren's diaries was still like a time capsule and I found them interesting to read.
