Val ..

This was a true example of Love will find a Way. The story lines were so impeccable. The actors made you really feel the passion. Sometimes I would just go into a zone and pretend that they are real. I love how he grabs her with so much force.

Val, of course. However, in the early seasons of Knots Landing, Gary was still that insecure man who tended to avoid responsibilities and that attracted him to Abby like metal to a magnet and why he wasn't able to resist Abby. Abby encouraged Gary to gamble, while Val wrapped Gary in cotton wool. Remember that it was Val who ended things with Gary early in Season 4 in that famous car park scene and she seemingly regretted it almost instantly, but by the time that Val called Gary back, Gary had already gone in despair. In Season 5, they almost got back together, until Laura warned Gary off and he married Abby instead. By Season 9-10, they were perfect for each other, but Jill and Danny got in the way for a while.

I think it would be Valene, but he hurt her a lot. I think Abby made him feel more alive because with her he felt a sexual chemistry but I'm not sure if he actually loved her liked he loved Valene.

He had that undying love for Valene. Although, he was attracted to Abby. He did not have that undying love. He knew that Abby had motives. In her own words " if I had to chose between love and money. Money always wins.. Gary needed that to feel validated. After while all of the lies and deception some how went away and turned into loathe. He always knew that he could trust Valene. At the end Men want someone that they can trust. So VAL wins...

Yes. It was definitely the sex. She also made him feel powerful. However, she also demonstrated that she would not be there at his weakest moments. He really couldn't be who really was. Sex does not keep a man. The novelty wears thin. He had lust not love. He only married her so that Val could move on because he was tired of hurting her.

This is a perfect example of sacrificing to save the one that you really love. I can relate to this all to well.

It's not the sex per se that drew Gary to Abby to the point where he couldn't resist her, even though there was a lot of lust in the relationship. Let's face it, we often saw Gary and Val all loved up in bed together in the early seasons of Knots Landing. What drew Gary to Abby was the fact that he felt insecure and even a little bored with his married life with Val of staying on the straight and narrow and keeping his daily job routine, and there was Abby daring him to gamble in business and wanted him to face responsibilities. It gave Gary an excitement, because Val was wrapping him in cotton wool as she was scared that he would relapse into alcoholism and/or lose his job and that she would lose him. In the end, Val ended it with Gary soon after discovering his affair with Abby, even though Val regretted it almost instantly.

In the long run, it was a good thing for Gary and Val that they split up at that time. Abby was who Gary needed at that time in his life. He needed somebody who compelled him to face responsibilities, and Olivia and Brian came into that too. His relationship and marriage to Abby, despite it eventually ending in divorce, enabled Gary to become a better person and a better husband and father in the future. Val also went through her own experiences that made her stronger.

Valene had Gary's heart. I loved Gary and Val together even though he Gary cheated on her a lot and I hated it when Gary and Val got a divorce and they were seeing other people. :( The writers kept them apart way too long. :)

I believe it was Val. Throughout every thing they went through, they always seemed to have a bond that no one could totally break. Someone once said, (forgive me for forgetting who said it, but I'll never forget what was said), "It's not your marriages to one another that don't work , it's your divorces that don't work".:hugs:

I think that is what made the ending so good. I guess they had to drag it out because 14 seasons were alot. I love Gary and Val together. I think in the end it proved that no matter what Love will Find a Way.
