Simon Sinek has a very interesting opinion about this :
Thank you for posting this. Not all of it is new to me - the phone addiction and lack of real-life interaction seems painfully obvious to me - but I had never seen it being addressed to in such a serious fashion.
I didn't get the first part about bad parenting. Who are those fanatic parents who pressure teachers? I thought that only happened in American TV shows like Desperate Housewives etc.
But I do believe there's a shift in life goals. The great career that people wanted in the 20th century doesn't suffice anymore.
You've got to be the best in something and I believe it's (at least) partially linked to social media and reality programmes and the prospect of Instant Celebrity Fame, regardless of your skills or achievements. And I think that also devalues the medal/award/appreciation.
A "favourite" pet peeve of mine is the Audition type shows. It's no longer good enough to entertain, no, the audience needs to be wowed by epic vocal perfomances.
Somehow, this has wormed its way into pop music as the vocals have become more important than the songs. As a result, many young performers feel pressured to be noticeable for the wrong reasons.
If you've got a good singing voice than that's good enough, you don't need to alter or extreme it to make it more special. Because every voice is different and therefore special.
The sad irony is that this approach makes it
less special when everybody's doing it. Kinda how the cool tattoo became a cheesy trendy thing.
But for the person who asks the question about Steven, it's the very first time
True, but there's also something like imagination. It's a very obvious question and maybe that's reason enough to avoid it.
Incidentally, is he coming back?
as I like to read their other sub forums, like the Fear The walking Dead one, or the Midsommar movie one.
Wait a minute. A Midsommar forum?
That movie??
