Anyone watching this? It does seem that a desperate attempt to breathe new life into a tired old format. Many of the participants I've never heard of an they aren't exactly A-listers. However, I'm kind of obsessed with Martin Bashir on this show. He's not a great singer but gives such a charming performance that it makes him so endearing. This is one of my favourite TV moments of 2019:

Unfortunately it does seem to be about a group of people (maybe with the exception of Bashir) wanting to stay famous by whatever means possible.

 

[Ome]

I've been watching it, but I don't understand what it's about.

If it's about finding a singer, someone who will sell records, then why did Simon save Martin over Olivia and didn't he say to Olivia that he thought she was the dark horse of the competition?


Then again, I'm not sure about why they are including Megan McKenna who is already an established singer, she's had songs go into the charts as well as over 90,000 listeners a month on Spotify. As I understood it, this was a show about finding a singer from the celeb world who were not known as singers or who are going out of their comfort zone.

I didn't get the auditions either, they let Jenny Ryan go (who has a great voice) to allow someone (Vinnie Jones) who hadn't auditioned take part. I thought this must have meant Vinnie had a great voice and was worth a part despite not auditioning, then I see him on the live shows and he's nothing but a novelty act.

They bring Jenny Ryan back and the one person (Nicole) who sent her packing, gave her an automatic pass to the next round. It doesn't make sense.



So with all that, I'm not really sure what this show is all about.

Can anything be more 2019 than the sight of Vinnie Jones, the ultimate Brit, sat on a stool singing an Irish folk song while wearing a union jack emblazoned suit?

 

[Sarah]

Well Vinnie is apparently allowed to walk in anywhere and do anything because he was a footballer

 

[Ome]

I've been watching this each week and cringing by it all. It's a complete mess, but one that's kinda addictive, just to see what the judges will do next.

Simon is all about how powerful he is.
Nicole is about which contestant she can shag that week.
Louis is just embarrassing full stop.

Ironic that the person they ditched at in the auditions came third in the competition.
