CW Renew Dynasty for a 2nd Season

Well that's good news I guess. I really would like this show to succeed and go on. I'm just hoping that it improves. I hope season 2 is well structured and thought out before it goes into production. I'd also like them to write the show a little more maturely next season. They wont.

Oh man, what a relief!
You have got to be kidding me. One of the lowest rated shows on network T.V. right now and yet somehow Dynasty gets renewed. This shouldn't be humanly possible. I mean come on, the CW has to be really concerned about Dynasty earning 0.1 ratings two weeks in a row recently. Are they really that desperate to have as many shows on air as possible?
I really hope that now going forward they get rid of the showrunners that are practically running this reboot to the ground and maybe now start recasting actors that just aren't working. And maybe start committing fully to storylines 100% and stop dropping them midway through the season.
On the bright side, Life Sentence's renewal status getting pushed back to May might be a strong indication that it's probably going to get cancelled if it doesn't start improving soon. And this makes me feel vindicated especially since Dynasty got banished to Fridays just so it can make room for this damn turkey.

The general reaction online has been "how the f*ck did that happen?" given the minuscule ratings. TV Grim Reaper has pointed out that it appears to be more to do with selling the show's on elsewhere later on than actual ad revenue right now.
While in it's infancy, I'm enjoying Nicollette's arrival, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the show develops beyond this season. I'd say the producers know that they got renewed by the skin of their teeth so it'll be interesting to see what changes they make in order to stop the show from sinking any further than it currently is. Yes! I just finished watching 'Enter Alexis' which I enjoyed immensely. I then go online and literally the first thing I see is the season 2 renewal. I'm so happy!!!

Too soon to renew it! I didn't think they'd renew it until at least after the finale or a little before it had the ratings gone over 1 million again. Pathetic. This means the show could drop again in the ratings and still be renewed.

Around the time original Dynasty was a national obsession (the spring of 1983), NBC chose to renew the lowest-rated show on its schedule (and 74th out of 77 shows on all networks) rather than give up on it. Like the CW, NBC didn't have a lot going for it, schedule-wise, and decided to give that show a chance to build an audience rather than just dump them. It worked out well for them; the show (Cheers) gathered an audience during rerun season and built on that audience for eleven seasons.
You never can tell what goes into these decisions. So many shows I liked have been prematurely (in my opinion) cancelled, so all I can do is say "hell yeah!".

Not surprised at all.
I said this was likely to happen, even if those ugly 0.1s made me a bit doubtful. But the CBS/Warner balance is horrible - this season CBS had Valor / Dynasty / Jane / Crazy Ex. Jane and Crazy Ex is ending next season, so that would leave them with nothing bar the CBS pilots (which I assume Charmed will be one of them) after next season. So it + the Netflix deal just increased its chances. It's all about profitability and Dynasty is profitable, even with crap ratings.
I guess this means they will drag it to four seasons at least.

I have a feeling the ratings bump for the last episode with NS' official debut helped make it possible for a 2nd season, plus the fact that the ratings held even on Friday (a graveyard shift time slot).
I also think that bringing Alexis and having Alexis vs Fallon with Cristal/Blake continuing their marital problems (the next two episode outlines show this).. shows that the show knows that the Colby story, plus Cristal vs Fallon wasn't working hence the shifting of the focus in the last few episodes.

So pleased. It’s obviously doing well on Netflix. I am a teacher in the UK and the other day, I overheard some 15 year old students discuss the show. It’s obviously being watched and by young people. Stop grumbling and enjoy the mindless fun the show is. Love it!!

And why is that a bad thing? And why being so concerned about how it affects the CW network?
I don't care, I'm only interested in what Dynasty can do for ME.
It's possible that I will lose interest again, but I like to have the choice to watch it or not. How could cancellation be the solution? Where's the profit?
Not every story has to go on forever, but ending a story is not the same as premature cancellation.
