Dallas Top Ten Plots That Never Surfaced On The Show.

10. Bobby Had An Evil Twin.

At the end of the 1985-86 Season, audiences were stunned, when Bobby suddenly appeared in the show, having been dead almost a year. The following season opener, revealed that the whole previous, had been a Nightmare, a dream by Pam herself. This followed in altering of storylines and re-creating plots from the season before last. But, what if it wasn't a dream? What if this Bobby Ewing was a Doppelganger - a fake? Or possibly the most bizarre of them all - Bobby's long lost evil twin brother?

Here's the backstory. Miss Ellie goes into labour on February 16th 1950 on South Fork Ranch. She is alone at the time and there are only maids. A female nurse is called and delivers her son. To the nurses astonishment, there is another baby, which overjoys Ellie, if for a moment. Sadly, the baby is said to be stillborn upon delivery which devastates Ellie. The Nurse takes the baby away and agrees to keep Ellie's secret from the family, as not to cause hurt. Ellie has kept this secret to herself for 36 years. Unbeknown to Ellie, the baby had survived and the Nurse had secretly kidnapped the baby and sold it off.

To explain this bizarre return in the shower, this manipulative twin, pretends he has amnesia and forgets he died a year earlier. He claims he has no memory of anything else, but being married to Pam and he is a member of the Ewing Family. The Ewing's are astonished by this outburst and demand a DNA test. It turns out he's Bobby back from the dead. JR is overwhelmed and welcomes him back to the family and Ewing Oil.
However, both Mark Graison and Cliff Barnes are very sceptical. Mark is willing to fight for Pam, whether or not Bobby is back, even before he dies. Bobby delivers a warning to Cliff and Mark passes away after he discovers a shocking conspiracy. Pam is devastated by Marks death, but Bobby makes up for that.

Also Jenna and Charlie are still emotionally connected to Bobby.

This storyline then coincides with Wes Parmelee claiming to be Jock, and as it turn out he and Bobby are scamming the Ewing's and Bobby's evil twin has got it in his head-brainwashed possibly - that Ellie abandoned him as a child in favour of his twin. Parmalee say's he wants out of the scam, but it doesn't go without a price....nasty.

To make matters worse, Bobby is also behind the BD Callhoun plot and attempts to destroy Ewing Oil fiasco in hopes his brother JR will end up in jail, to pin blame.

How evil bobby's true identity were to be discovered, it would have sent the Ewing's out of their mind and the family needing answers from Ellie.

Also would this evil twin still remained in the later seasons?

So...he's alive just because he doesn't "remember" the fact that he died? LOL!

this would lead to quite a dilemma later as Sue Ellen takes Evil Bobby to Dr. Elby to treat his amnesia with hypnosis. The wonderfully-coiffed psychiatrist would feel duty-bound to treat his patient to the best of his abilities, knowing full well that if he were too successful and restored Evil Bobby's memory of his own death he'd likely die again on the spot, this time for real.

I just had a delayed reaction to that post. I read it and then about a minute later, I started really laughing.

And yet he knew where to find Pam's shower. Talk about a selective memory.

I think, if there was going to be a presumed-dead twin brother, then one of the Ewings or Barnses should find him. Maybe when they're watching TV and then there's a soap commercial featuring UnBobby as the model. "Hey, that's him!"
And then storyline-development, more storyline-development and eventually UnBobby ends up living on Southfork. But he doesn't have to be evil.
If he acts like Bobby (not so far-fetched for a twin brother) then Pam could fall in love with her previously-never-mentioned-before-presumed-dead-twin-brother-in-law and he could simply take his dead brother's place.
And since he's still Patrick Duffy, the audience will no longer care which Bobby he really is.
Maybe he could have a dramatic moment like "I am NOT my brother!" and the other Ewings would say "of course you're not!" and then giggle behind his back, thus reassuring the audience that they shouldn't take that outburst too seriously.

now this might have put Dallas right back on top and forestalled its decline entirely, especially if it took the viewers into the fascinating and ultra-competitive world of soap advertising!

It's still better than a dream.

Quite likely they would not have had the shower idea at all if another explanation was used.

I've heard this Evil twin idea before and it's ridiculous. I predict that if Patrick hadn't returned as Bobby the ratings would have dropped faster and the show wouldn't have lasted another 5 years!

What good was there in those last 5 years? Very little, and the little there was was in the season immediately after the dream.

The way I see it, Bobby's death opened up new dynamics for Dallas, taking the show in new directions for the future. They then pressed the reset button trying to recapture a past that had become stale by the season that ended with Bobby's death. Big mistake to press the reset button, although it's a number 1 rating for the greatest comeback from the dead in history. I don't know about you, but I loved the dream season, and the dream revelation really jars for many episodes in the early period of the following season with all the storylines having gone back a year and taking a different course.

Like it or not, the only way for Bobby's return to have worked is if he'd been hidden away for a year. (I've worked out the details, and it's far better than what they did -- and would require only one episode to provide the requisite explanations).

And if it had to be a year-long dream, then that dream could only have been dreamt by a comatose Bobby.

Anything else is folly. And they chose folly.

And how do you explain away the fact that we saw Bobby flatline dead, followed by 31 episodes of grief and life carrying on without Bobby? Knots Landing did this with Gary for 1 episode, where he faked his death with the help of Mack and certain police to flush out the Wolfbridge criminals. 31 episodes and about a year of time passing is a very different matter. Even the Mark Graison storyline had Pam searching for him for quite some time, and there was a suspicion from the start that his apparent death wasn't quite what it seemed.

And if it had to be a year-long dream, then that dream could only have been dreamt by a comatose Bobby.

Do people in comas dream? If Bobby is coming back, I think the dream is the only way, but the question is why do it? Wasn't it an excellent way for Bobby to go, with a memorable death?

Nobody in the family knew... Okay, maybe one person.

Do people in comas dream? More plausible than what they did.

But then you're one of these the-dream-is-the-only-way people. As if it worked and everything was copacetic.

That could have worked if he had been involved with something big and Cartel-ish, like the Marinos scheme.
But what could have been his reason in season 7/DVD 8? Did he receive threats from the Marchetta clan? Were they a powerful dynasty too?

We could learn that Miss Ellie was approached by FBI/Interpol/KAOS that they'd learned that Morgan Brittany had anonymously hired an assassination squad thru euro-asian backchannels to take out Bobby and the Ewings, the result being Angelica and her Martinique/fake-Jack scam an elaborate ploy to get the key Ewings out of the country to kill them. Angelica never aware that the woman who'd hired them, Katherine, is dead.

And with Bobby comatose at the time, the FBI/IRS/ACME agencies permit the deception and even the probate of his will, Bobby later emerging from his deep sleep and rejoining the world.

Hearing that Pam married Mark the day before, Bobby reveals himself first to Jenna; she rapes him so -- boom! -- she's pregnant again by the time Bobby learns Mark died in Pam's marital shower. Harve tells JR to start efforts to re-buy up the pieces of Ewing Oil he thought he already owned, those sales null and void with the resurrection of his brother, Harve assuring JR that any fraud lawsuit would be long, expensive and pointless since the deception occurred with full federal assistance.

Oh, sure, the details would be tricky, but that's what clever writers are for.

"Bobby, Bobby -- why are they gaslighting us by pretending the dream was the only acceptable resolution when it ruined the show totally and became a worldwide joke and a sitcom punchline for years....??"

he'd been recruited by the CIA to help in the overthrow of the Venezuelan government, a plot started back in Season 1 with undercover agent Guzzler Bennett and the high-rises he was building down there, and furthered by the helicopter 'death' of Jock a couple of years later (note that Bobby was the one to find the medallion at the bottom of the lake, supposedly proving Jock was dead). Jock had been recruited into the effort by agent Amos Krebbs.

For some inexplicable reason, Bobby needed to be whisked away for a year under cover of apparent death in order to finalize the overthrow (perhaps a disguised Bobby, who had been secretly practicing his Spanish with Raoul and Teresa, would have posed as the opposition leader only to be 'assassinated', leading to a popular uprising).

Garnet McGee would figure into the plot somehow, too, perhaps as the agent supervising the Texas portion of the operation. Ray Krebbs, as usual, was an unwitting dupe, as the 'fourth son' canard introduced by Agent Amos was not true, Margaret's supposed 'diary' having been created at CIA headquarters containing Jock's secret instructions.

The entire series ends with Ann Ewing muttering "guzzler!" as she drops a snowy paperweight of Southfork which breaks on the terra cotta floor of her ex-mother-in-law's brothel.
