That's a good point. I love all the excitement, but this isn't even a shot Pilot yet. In any case, regarding your point about soap operas, they may try to pair this with JANE THE VIRGIN. I haven't seen the show, but I suspect it's one of the closest things they have to a soap and the kind of audience they'd be looking for. Plus, the Latina leads. This will be YOUTH oriented. It's more than likely going to be about Cristal and Fallon fighting and bitchin at each other, which will develop into a frenemy thing. Then again, FOX also wasn't recently known as a place for soaps, and look what happened there.
I remember someone on here posted a while ago that the Shapiros had licensed the rights to DYNASTY to a company who were developing it as a Spanish language telenovela. It's interesting that the telenovela genre was mentioned quite a bit on the Schwartz/Savage show THE OC. In that show Seth was obsessed with bad telenovelas, I think when he was off school during summer.

Well maybe not 5-second. Maybe they can do a 30- 40 second opening credit sequence. The OC was a 30 second intro.

I hope so, but The O.C. began in 2003 when the networks were still doing proper opening credits (albeit much shorter than in the past). By 2005, this awful practice of reducing opening to 5-12-second title cards began and spread like wildfire. I suppose some genius calculated how much more money they can make annually by running yet another 30-second commercial each hour instead of the credits.

Desperate Housewives, for example, started in 2004 and got those great animated credits I really enjoyed seeing.

By next season they got cut (most of the time) into this awful short version. I mean, why even bother?

Schwartz's Gossip Girl, which began in 2007 on The CW, was already affected by the practice:

Love this opening. :D

I never minded this opening. In fact, back when it was still on the air, I assumed this version was made as a "Yeah, yeah, you get the gist, now let's get on with the show!" kind of thing. As much as I liked the first intro, I would have gotten sick of it, having to spend every episode waiting to get through it to get to the action.

Schwartz's Gossip Girl, which began in 2007 on The CW, was already affected by the practice:

Aw, but I actually liked that intro! It was short and sweet, straight to the point. It managed to combine so many elements of the show into 11 seconds: it takes place in New York, there's gossip, there's a lot of 'digital/online' stuff, the main character is a girl named Serena, and there's a mysterious entity named Gossip Girl. "That said, let's get on with the show!"

90210 came out a year after Gossip Girl, and this was their intro:

I never really liked it, but they came up with this one the following season:

I liked this MUCH better, plus it suited the show's darker tone.

So yeah, there's hope for DYNASTY's new intro; it'll most likely be short, but it also might be creative and fun to watch. :)

Much as I would like for the titles of the new CW Dynasty to be in many respects like those of the original-recipe 1981-89 ABC John Forsythe series-- to wit, this, the fourth-season (1983-84) opening...

...I hate to say it, but I agree with those who say that it will probably be reduced to just a quick 8-second title display, with the players to be shown over the first scenes of the show. Now if they had a 30-40 sec. opening with some of the music, and some updated shots from the original-recipe series, like was done w/Dallas on TNT, that might make it somewhat better.

- Every time I hear the music, I see the house my heart is happy!!! I hope they do the opening like the TNT Dallas S3 - it was modern, it had style and it was in same way like the old one....

- when you watch at today´s tv programme you want to give Dynasty all the Emmys just for its opening. So bad are all the cop/cook and reality shows....

Hm, what if the new show did do an opening credit sequence styled after the original show, but instead of having it play along with the actual episodes, its just posted online for fans to watch for fun? If that turns out to be a popular method, they could do something like that with each new season to add in any new characters, and maybe even put in new backgrounds for each season. :)

- it would be a nice alternative but I prefer to see it on tv ...

If they forgo the opening they might as well not do the project. I'm sure the fear is that the same thing over and over again will loose people. But it is what establishes the feel. It doesn't have to be long but it must be there and it they want us to feel dynasty they have to replicate the style to some degree. Maybe limit it to no more then 7 key people. Have a whole list of establishing shots to rotate around the people and the mansion.

Or how about images of jewelry spilling across the screen, along with horses running and fur coats being spread out and fancy cars speeding along... y'know, typical 'luxurious' things passing along in a montage of sorts?

It could be like DOWNTON ABBEY's opening.

And how about the music? Same or different?

I'd say go for similar. If the new intro is going to be shorter, then the music is going to have to be different to accommodate. But it should still capture the spirit of the original show. :)

Actually, yeah, kinda like that. :) Heh, I love the shot of the woman having the emerald necklace being put on her... OH! I just imagined that being the opening credit for Cristal: she's sitting in a black evening gown, and Blake (who's face is hidden from the camera) is putting the emerald necklace around her neck. Symbolizing how she's becoming his private property or something? And it would double as a reference to the original series' emerald storyline, if they decided not to do something similar this time around.

In fact, if they did go with that, they could have Cristal be given a different necklace every season! lol :D
