Sheridan Exits As Alexis In New Dynasty

Working on the Dynasty reboot and reprising the iconic role of Alexis has been thoroughly enjoyable, but the chance to spend precious time with my terminally ill mother is more important to me right now. I am profoundly grateful to Mark Pedowitz (The CW) and David Stapf (CBS) for graciously allowing me to return to Los Angeles to be with her, and I wish them and everyone associated with the show nothing but continued success. I am hopeful that my fans will embrace my successor with as much passion as they embraced me.

Very gracious sentiments. Even in the circumstances I'm glad it ended better for Nicollette than Desperate Housewives did.

they should make it that Sable is her sister and have some firey red head step in as her sister. Maybe that redhead from Melrose Place. Sidney? The one who wasn't Marcia Cross.

They should just give the part to Joan Collins now and pay her whatever she wants for gods sake! Of course without any further explanation about the age difference onscreen, maybe a little remark from Fallon that she has suddenly "darker hair" now.

And that Blake married a woman old enough to be his grandmother.

I think it would be kind of cruel to put the Alexis character and all what they have already written in the scripts for her on hold and literally waiting for Nicollettes mum to die (WTH?!) so that Alexis could return....???!! ugh!
They will have enough to do already to find a new Alexis and maybe adapt the story a little to the new actress or rewrite all the remaining scripts to kill the character off for good.
Remember, Alexis is supposed to marry a rich man who is in love with her and then expires. I think that is what they had originally in mind for this coming season finale, before Nicollette asked to be let go.

It seems from her statement that they (producers) have already decided they need to recast rather than write her out and hope for her return after a while. This tells me they have (had?) a major story planned for Alexis that they cannot write around (in other words, it affects the progression of too many other stories). This is something I find hard to believe, since they have ably demonstrated how they can shift a major story into neutral with the drop of a hat. I can only guess the story involves the contractual obligations of certain other actors who are leaving or coming (*cough*Jeff*cough*Dominique*) and they can't delay those entrances/exits.

Part of me wishes they would keep an open-door policy for Nicollette to return. That way, they can send Alexis off to jail for the murder of Mark. They could do a reverse Alexis/Caress storyline and have Alexis framed by Caress for Mark's murder because she was responsible for Caress serving time in jail. Serving time in prison would give Alexis ample reason to evolve and return with quite a chip on her shoulder in high bitch form with plenty of revenge to serve once she learns she was framed.

Either that or bring on Sable/Dominique in the meanwhile.

On a side note, I was reading somewhere that a viewer thought Kate Vernon would be a good recast since she has features similar to Nicollette and I thought that was an interesting choice, and she knows how to play a bitch.

Oh yeah, then I might try to watch this crappy series! Kate Vernon was a megabeech on "Battlestar Galactica" and she probably went to Nicollette´s same plastic surgeon...A perfect choice!

Edit to add that no, she is not. She might be perfect to replace Christine Baransky on "The Good Fight" though...

I think it may be a mutual decision. Plus Sheridan isn’t the easiest actress to work with. If it came to choosing working on a low rated show or being with my mother I know what I’d choose.

I don’t think any of the LA cast enjoy filming for long periods in Atlanta. I know Elisabeth Gillies flies home to LA every weekend.

Plus Alexis’ character has been diluted this season and seems to be there for just comic relief which is not how the original was intended.

I really blame the writers for all this upheaval. The actors are just given the scripts and make do with what they’ve got, so kudos for the few who can pull it off.

What would Barbara Stanwyck say if she was on the show lol. This is the biggest pile of horse shit I’ve ever worked on.

Or maybe she'll have a Pam Ewing style collision with an oil tanker and require extensive surgery. I mean there has to be a soapy explanation, they cant just have her go up the stairs Nicollette and come down them somebody else.

I imagine the plan was to have Alexis marry Jeff who promptly drops dead (due to unforeseen complications from being shot). Alexis looks forward to inheriting Jeff's fortune and sees Monica as a minor obstacle. Dominique arrives in Atlanta for Jeff's funeral and decides she going to stay for awhile.
