Blake - John Stamos
Kristal - Julie Gonzalo (Dallas 2012)
Fallon - Blake Livley
Steven - Cord Overstreet (though he's busy I thought he had the look to me)
Jeff - Juan Pablo diPace (Dallas 2012)

To me that's the core to start with. Not sure about the Blaisdals. Alexis would need to be a big name, someone very recognizable and I'd say blonde. I thought about Michelle Pfeiffer.

Any other characters and actors?

Some ideas for Alexis:

Michelle Pfeiffer - graceful power
Kate Blanchett - alluring control
Tilda Swinton - masculine strength

I just think she should be blonde to go opposit of a Hispanic Krystal. She should radiate power, control and strength while Krystal is sweet, loving and strong. The first is vulnerable behind a facade of steel, the second steel behind a facade of vulnerability.

I agree Alexis phony in the I meant she's vulnerable but comes off as steel where Krystal comes off as vulnerable but is steel.

This is where I have a problem with Dynasty 2.0. I'm assuming this Cristal will be brunette which may lead us to Alexis being blonde. When I look back at Dynasty having Krystal blonde and Alexis with black hair it gave the scenes added tension. Watch the first scene between Alexis and Krystal at the Carrington mansion. Krystal enters the kitchen in an all ensemble off white outfit while Alexis is wearing dark tones. Not sure if this was deliberate or pure luck but as Alexis followed Krystal to the reception room it was like she was casting a dark shadow of what was to come.

This first scene between Alexis and Krystal was brilliant. I hope the new writers/showrunners study this scene in depth and re-create that tension with Dynasty 2.0 without tipping over to camp-ness.

Agree but I'm ok with switching colors as an irony and keeping their characteristics.

Cristal - Leonor Varela (if going for a Latin/Hispanic look)
Fallon - Blake Lively (not sure if she would return to a TV role)
Steven - Ryan Paevey (similar look to Julian. Has a devil may care attitude)

John Stamos - I don't believe he can play dark enough for my liking. He always comes across as though he is about to say something funny.
Julie Gonzalo - To be fair I didn't know anything about her prior to her work on Dallas TNT. I couldn't warm to her though.
Chord Overstreet - Let's avoid the pretty boy. Anyone taking on the role of Steven (and if they decide to retain Steven as gay) needs to have some acting chops.
Juan Pablo Di Pace - Wrong fit for Jeff. I see him playing the forgotten Adam.

I like all your choices except the guy playing Steven. I still want him to be blonde. I thought the original Steve was a pretty boy. I also like your Krystal but I was thinking youger like early 30s. I was also thinking of Jeff as Hispanic as well. I thought it would be odd if Krystal was the only Hispanic person. I posted a fan fiction, if you get a chance I'd appreciate your feedback.

What about Jesse Williams as Jeff Colby? Blair Underwood as Cecil Colby. Lawerance Fishburne as Jason Colby and Venessa Williams as Connie Colby. Just an idea for further diversity. I like diversity in a show if it starts out that way and isn't force feed us later in the story. Like the Ramos family was forced on us from Dallas TNT while the DelSols were added and not given the chance to develop.

How about Jay Hayden as Jeff? He almost looks 1/2 Hispanic. I read he's actually 1/2 Korean though. He's got the look for Jeff Colby, imo. Patrick Dempsey as Cecil Colby. Emma Thompson (as a brunette) as Connie Colby. Ioan Gruffudd as Jason Colby. These guys would be very WASP but an idea.

Had to look Jesse up since I've never watched Grey's Anatomy. A very good choice for Jeff. I like your idea of an African/American family as the Colby's. If we're going for a re-boot why not totally re-jig the characters ethnicity. Unlike others I'm prepared to give Dynasty 2.0 a chance by watching with a fresh approach. What would be the point of this whole exercise if the producers copy the original...word for word, same story arc's.

What I also like about having the Colby family as African/American is Diahann Carroll could make a special appearance...not as Dominique Deveraux of course...but as matriarch of the Colby family. Throw in Dame Joan Collins playing Alexis Morell Carrington Dexter Rowan's mother, and we're on a winner.

I wonder if they'll look for a British/European actress to explain her accent, if of course Dynasty 2.0 follows closely to the original story. Someone else mentioned they should seek out Dame Joan and request suggestions/approval. A very good idea.

I do not know if she needs to be British but I like the idea of Joan Collins consulting. I also like the idea of her playing her mother - as Blake chokes Alexis at the top of the stairs Joan Collins calmly walks in, smells the flowers on the table and says "if you kill my daughter, Blake, all this will be mine."

Change Constance from the sister to the mother of the 3 Colby Boys and Diane Carroll as Constance Colby. She meets Jessica Morell played by Joan Collins and says I'd ask you to pass me the caviar but I doubt you'd know what I was talking about."

Maybe not African American, maybe from South Africa - bit British, bit African. The Colby boys meet Blake at boarding school out east. They could strike oil together in Africa and end up in Denver together looking for what oil is left after all the great oil properties were snagged up - only to fight and split up.

The Colby's could stay South Africa with Jason in London running CP - modeled after British Petroleum / BP (C for Colby or Commonwealth). Cecil could run ColbyCo based on Koch Industries in Denver. Global offices, apartments, homes.

DenverCarrington based on Haliburton would be in Denver like the Bushes going to Texas to strike oil. Also a background story of politics, maybe secretary of energy and ambassador to Vietnam.

Steven's company could use advanced fracking technology to get at oil no one could ever get at before - all those once dried up properties.

They'll do deals in Asia and the Middle East - more diversity.

We could see more of Krystal's Hispanic family (Argentina with lots of dislike of the British). The British, the South Africans, and the Argentinas all into polo. Lots of fun interacting around the world.

Blake's sister would be half Asian from Singapore - another British polo playing influence and more diversity.

If done right it won't feel forced but exciting.

Kate Winslet - a bit young but a great actress who could pull it off. They'd have to prove the show in season one to convince her.

For a Dynasty reboot I seriously don't see the likes of Kate Winslet, Jessica Alba or others lowering their standards to star in Dynasty 2.0. Potentially could place them in a vulnerable position if it flops. I would imagine the producers/show-runners will seek out complete unknowns to fill the roles of Fallon, Steven, Jeff, Adam etc, while they may go for high profile actors to fill the roles of Blake, Cristal and Alexis. In cases like this they generally go for a high profile actor to draw the audience in.

I agree and I'm sure the actors that are high profile for the 3 still won't be stars like Kate Winslet, that's why I thought John Stamos for Blake, someone recognized by young people, someone still in good shape, but not some real big who wouldn't consider it. Though I liked your choices too.

I'm sure the kids will be young eye candy with lots of skin to show on the CW, which is why I thought that Krystal would be younger as well. They could make her Fallon's age really. That would mean just Blake would need to be older until they add the Colby's and Alexis.

Well if nothing else it should say a lot based on who they pick.
