As nice as it would be to demand residuals for our "shadow production meetings" here, I'm pretty sure it's Hendrix's past work with Liz Gillies that drew attention to her.

Wow, they actually cast her? Heh, wow... I had given up on the show long ago, and then they go and do something smart!
I read many times that Elaine is the opposite of her old movie character (Meredith Blake). Meaning she's a nice, sweet and compassionate human being. So this should avoid some drama behind the curtains hopefully. And yes, her reaction with Liz Gillies seems to be friendly for years. So far it's all good :
- Elaine seems to be a nice person
- She looks like a mix between NS and LG, so we can buy her as "secondary surgery Alexis"
- She knows how to play icy bitch (Meredith Blake)
- She's 48 yo. Daniella Alsonso is 41 yo. Only a 7 years difference will be helpful to create a credible rivalry between Cristal and Alexis, like OG Krystle and OG Joan Collins.. Nathalie Kelley had a 21 years difference with Nicolette Sheridan (20 years difference with Ana Brenda Contreras)
- She can wear big hats

I would, but I'm highly reluctant. Season 2 kinda battered me. The final straw was Fallexis. Bleah.

True on all accounts. I remember seeing some behind-the-scenes stuff for The Parent Trap, and they were showing the filming of the scene where the twins drag Meredith out on her inflatable mattress onto the lake. As the girls were pulling, they were having difficulty pulling in a smooth enough manner, and Elaine was laughing and being quite personable with the kids. I'm not too familiar with her work, but from what I have seen, she does seem to have at least a sense of humor (the fact that she's lovingly embraced the fact that she's most well known as Meredith Blake ).
And not only does she look like a mix between NS and LG, but Elaine is very close in height to NS (I believe it's only an inch difference and therefore hardly noticeable).
Oh, Cristal 3.0 is 41? They actually got an older woman this time around? Now that's intriguing. Not enough to get me to become involved with the show again, but I do applaud that act anyway.
And if this means that they'll *STOP* with all the recasting and stick with the actresses they have and write well for the characters, then *maybe* I'll come back. But for now...
Netflix will make the show available around june 2020, so maybe you can bing it then.

About Cristal 3.0, she seems to fit well. Actually I like her as Cristal. So as you said, this time, I hope they will stick with their cast, and will stop those annoying recasts.
I was upset by this Fallexis decision. I was against it till day one, and voiced it few time. Ok, Liz did a great job, but we didn't need more for her "demo reel"... Fallexis was a huge farce, and I think it hurt Dynasty more than they thought it could. Also, I agree that season 2 was disappointing (except for a few episodes I really liked 13 to 17, around)

I did look up the reactions people had to Ep3 of S3 out of curiosity, and was surprised to see a mostly positive reaction.
But Cristal 3.0, from what I looked up, it looks like she's still Cristal Jennings - just being played by a different actress? No plastic surgery or anything? Just simply a new face with no one commenting? Meh, I guess at this point they might as well do that.

In real DYNASTY, Fallon and Amanda were recast the same way. Only Steven needed extensive ̶l̶o̶b̶o̶t̶o̶m̶y̶ plastic surgery to turn Al Corley to Jack Coleman.

Faye was ALMOST ready to take this part. She is obviously 49 but is able to play 45 and less with a good script and a crew that can take a slap on the cheek. Just don't mention that one woman play and that movie from 1980 that ruined her career and put her child in jeopardy.
