Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

it would have interesting to see her relationship with an older Christopher in TNT Dallas to the point of Christopher inquiring about her mother Kristin. Was this ever touched on?
Yes, that something that could have worked better in the TNT series than the Lorimar one.
In reality, the TNT Dallas series had explored the Christopher/Sue Ellen/Kristin issue, but it seems that those scenes were then cut away.
It seems that a lot of the best stuff was edited out.

i'm glad they are being remastered don't get me wrong but i wish they'd both get put on bluray they really need to be on it, Dallas is a given but Knots needs to be on bluray but if they do i'd say do it smart put 3 of them out one year or do a box set i dunno either way but if they release Knots on bluray like they did last time it may not sell well. but in the Last 3 seasons they did for Law & Order before it came back last year they put 3 of them out on dvd on the same day and course the box set i bought recently had already been put out by than the box came out in (2011) the last seasons sold separately was in (2015)

Really curious to see if Warner decides to put this on HBOMax. Would assume if so that it would be on 45th anniversary in April? Or, since Dallas is on Freevee, maybe Amazon holds stresming rights for a specified amount of time?

I don't mind the purchase-to-stream option - there's at least some promise that they'll remain available - but for some shows I'd still want the physical discs as well.
I just find it to be a really unreliable way of building a long term collection. Services which once offered this very feature, like the Ultraviolet codes you would get inside purchased movie boxes, ceased to work after 2019 when the service was shut down. Netflix is constantly chopping and changing their collection too, which is fine for casual viewing but gets annoying when you want certainty.

This is the reason I prefer hard media.

Streaming is all well and good but when you just want to watch maybe a few shows on a streaming site, having to pay a subscription when one of your favourite shows gets pulled off it leaves the subscribers frustrated.

For an example the BBC's Doctor Who which is currently on Britbox and which probably garners a lot of fans subscribing to it just specifcally to watch Doctor Who are perhaps unaware that the show will be leaving that platform in the not too distant future.

That's why I definitely prefer DVD's or Blu-rays over streaming. At least with the physical media you can watch it any time you like. :)

HI folks, I'm really confused about the availability (or lack of) of the remastered prints in HD on Apple TV+/itunes and wondering if anyone here can clarify for me...

I'm in Australia, so I appreciate there might be some difference between what is available from Apple here and what's available overseas.

However, it also seems there is some confusion about the use of the term "HD" to describe the restored prints, even when they are only available in SD versions.

To explain: when I look at Apple TV+ and iTunes here in Australia, almost all the old prints seem to have been replaced by the new restored ones, but the only episodes I can see available in actual HD (ie 1080p) are:

- All but 2 episodes of Seasons 1 & 2
- All of Season 6
- Most (not all) of Season 9

Everything else is still only in SD (480p), albeit in the newly remastered prints.

There are other episodes *mislabelled* as HD on AppleTV+, but when you click on them, they are actually SD.

As far as I can tell this is the same on the iTunes store. And from switching regions to the US and UK, it seems the same in all regions.

So I'm wondering whether people who are saying the episodes are "available in HD" are not distinguishing between the newly remastered prints in SD, and HD versions of the same.

From what I can see, what iTunes/Apple TV appear to be doing is first replacing all the old prints with SD versions of the new masters, and only after that adding HD versions.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has a different take on this.

Too bad that "The Colbys" isn't in possession of Warners anymore, because then it maybe would get the HD treatmant as well. :eyes:
