Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

I'm not going to waste my money on buying the Blu-ray's now.
These minor faults will not prevent me from purchasing the Blu-Ray boxset...if released. I don't wish to sound mean spirited here but why hyperventilate over fonts when other corrections have been made...like the camera guys reflection in the door frame as we follow Katherine Wentworth about to take a shot at Bobby.

Well, it's probably true that only hardcore fans will notice or care.

And maybe not even all hardcore fans. I notice things like leading and font subtleties because it's my job. Probably nine people out of ten won't notice at all, and if you point it out they'll say "Huh? I can't see any difference."

Was that fixed??!

LOTS of graphics mistakes on the newly remastered prints unfortunately.
Unintended consequences will get you every time.

Is removing one mistake worth creating another? I'd prefer they just left them as they were broadcast.

I agree but it's worth noting when Dallas began in 1978 some countries may have deleted scenes considered too risk for airing. Since America was far more uptight about these things I'm guessing we will see the original American broadcast as seen here in Australia. I couldn't imagine our networks would have tampered with what was given. I mean Dallas was Romper Room compared to our Number 96.

My personal preference would have been if Warner Bros hired someone like David Paulsen to have access and view all the original footage and incorporate deleted scenes. I'm guessing there must be stuff out there which never made the final cut. Of course time and money is a factor here and I'm guessing reels of film have been misplaced over the years. But I'm nit-picking here and I'm just grateful something has been done to restore what was once the biggest series in the world. Let the generation today discover what all the fuss was about.

I hope many will discover the series, but no matter what, they will never fully understand the summer of Who Shot J.R. and the Friday night Dallas parties.

With the internet and streaming services, the younger generation won't get to experience that anticipation of waiting for Friday night to watch Dallas.

I watched the show all in one go for the first time around in about 2013/14/15 ish (can't recall exactly). It took me maybe seven months and then I restarted. I'm in my 20s and came to the show organically after watching I Dream of Jeannie. I'd totally recommend Dallas for a modern audience, especially since the second season (DVD) has some episodes that are best to watch and then move on from rather than wait a week (Triangle and Runaway come to mind).

Yeah, that's all well and good but when idiotic mistakes have been made in the opening title sequence by graphic artistes who don't know what they're doing it's only going to detract from any enjoyment of the actual episodes themselves.

I need to see what they've done to the opening sequence to see how bad the errors are because if they do stand out like a sore thumb it's possible the amateurish way they've been approximated might put new viewers off! This could turn out to be a very expensive disaster for the show. :(

Whatever they’ve done or haven’t done to it, it’s still Dallas remastered and I am looking forward to it. These things never go perfectly so there are always going to be glitches.

That's your defence. There are always going to be glitches!?!

That is a defence I will not accept.

Warner Bros. are supposed to have professionals in charge of the remastering.

Instead we get Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog working on the title sequence! :(

There will ALWAYS be glitches. Nearly every Doctor Who collection blu ray set that has been lovingly assembled by fans has had errors. It happens.

They were more focused on the streaming thing I guess + box sets aren't out yet, so maybe they'll fix these errors by then?
Streaming services have option to skip intros, I guess they have that option because people like to use it.
I think most people don't watch every intro when they binge watch.
I guess they were more focused on the actual episodes + made some mistakes intentionally for hardcore fans so that the fans can prove to the world how hardcore they are and boycott the whole thing. And NO, Dallas, isn't WB top priority let's be real. No proper commercial yet? Not a word (offical I mean) during the remastering process to get more people hooked? Nothing offical yet? And you're so annoyed here like they promised you something, anything. WB haven't said a word about remastering Dallas, officially.

I honestly think those little mistakes in the titles don´t really matter, unless VP´s credit reads "Vektoria Principles"...

In the latter seasons there were a lot of mistakes in both opening and closing titles, and again, being really honest, I don´t care at all if they redo all those titles as they seem to have been doing. I´m interested in the episode itself. Also, if you get worried about it, think that here in Spain we will never watch the complete "Dallas" on streaming or Blu-Ray, because, ahem, the dubbing for everything post-JR´s shooting is, ahem, "lost". 95% of it may be found using certain programs that Warner doesn´t approve for sure. And they will never ever re-dub the whole series again because, well, it would cost a lot since it´s 357 episodes. So yeah, let´s celebrate what we (will) have!!

They'll only stand out to people who know what to look for. The majority of viewers won't notice. As a comparison: how many people noticed that once Howard Lakin joined as producer in season 12, the last three credits in the opening titles (Created by David Jacobs/Producer Howard Lakin/Supervising Producer Arthur Bernard Lewis) were redone with a different typeface and larger point size for the first name, smaller point size for the surname (ie the reverse of the cast credits)? That is about the level of subtlety we're talking about.

Yeah well I noticed straight away but then I'm probably not indicative of the demographic that Dallas is aimed at! :)
