Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

I so agree with you on that. I can't believe that Michael Filerman did that bitchy interview where he claimed he saw no evidence Linda Gray could act (yet he said nothing about Charlene Tilton who had very limited acting chops at the beginning of the show). Like you I am watching the season 1 remasters and have just finished "Black Market Baby" and I thought she was just terrific in that. It's clear that Sue Ellen as originally written had no character at all, and what she did in fleshing her out was pretty remarkable.
Oh how dare that Filerman say that, I've never seen that interview. What Linda Gray did with that role was amazing. Still to this day I am mesmerised by her.
I will have to treat myself to the HD set.

Sue Ellen on skid row in HD.

Superb quality picture and acting!

I'm sure someone with better knowledge on all things Dallas will correct me here if I'm wrong but I'm sure I recall Linda was apprehensive about revisiting the alcoholic storyline but was assured by the writers of this season they were going to drag Sue Ellen so far down the rabbit hole of her addiction the only way was up.

Linda's acting in this season was superb.

Yes indeed, Linda Gray was very vocal on many occasions in expressing she wanted Sue Ellen to stop drinking and take a different direction. This was eventually agreed to but as you say she had to hit rock bottom first.
Big shame this was part of the dream season. Very few could ever portray a drunk like she she did.
For me her acting was continually superb.

I had also read that interview of Filerman.

I can accept he had an initial bias, given that Linda Gray was pitched for the character of Sue Ellen primarily due to her husband's friendships with the bosses at CBS Television.

But the interview was from several years after Dallas started. By the time of that bleak interview with Filerman, Linda Gray had amply demonstrated that she was a fine actress, intense, versatile and sensitive.

I'm asking an Oscar ... at least for her career!

Fascinating info, thank you. An Oscar......if only.

Linda Gray was nominated for an Emmy award in 1981 for best lead actress in a dramatic series. She didn't win sadly.
she and Miss Ellie lost out to, of all people, former head buyer at The Store Liz Craig! A travesty!

This must have been during the period when Liz was in Houston after JR convinced Harrison Page to promote Pam to head buyer. Liz got the last laugh, though, winning the Emmy and landing Harrison as a bedroom partner before moving back to Dallas to do aerobics with Pam.

Yes LOL!
Of course Barbara Bel Geddes won hers the year previously in 1980 and Barbara Babcock won hers for Hill Street Blues.

And again you can see that mistakes have now been made on the closing credits.

The copyright page doesn't remain on screen long enough and the Edward Denault credit just flash's up very briefly.

This is just not good enough.

Why would the HD remastering of Dallas be so sloppily-handled insofar as end titles are concerned?

This is so fascinating to read, although I don't understand the technicalities, I'm finding it very interesting. Funny how things are changed from TV to DVD etc, I remember a debate on Dallas decoder about the episode "tangled web" where Sue Ellen catches JR in bed with Ms Harwood. Apparently there was a great underscore on the original airing as opposed to it being omitted on DVD. I would love to see the original, I've got all episodes on VHS in my attic, think I'll have to dig them out with my portable TV-VHS player,
All I can contribute is I don't like change, I like to see my favourite TV show as it originally aired. I got " The sound of music" DVD film way back and was gutted how different camera angles were used, I hated it. Sorry that's not about HD, but all I feel I can comment on lol.

Can't blame you for that-- it would indeed be true if you saw a particular series on its original network when it was on (like Dallas on CBS, or for you in the UK, whatever channel/network you had). However, some of us were not so lucky (we didn't see certain shows when they were originally on), and so, any changes thereto, we don't pay all that much attention to (we have simply enjoyed the show for what it is when we have had the chance).

That error was my fault when I uploaded this video. It's a software issue and not on the original.

So the end titles here are correct otherwise, but were corrupted on upload?
