Lucille never should have slept with Roger

I also have gaps in my memory when it comes to the Roger story. I don't know what Mitch found out and I don't know what happened to Roger either. He was arrested and what happened then? There was no trial, was there? Did we find out what sentence he received?

It's quite possible that Roger would have been released on parole in season 13. He could have presented himself to Lucy as the new Roger, who shows remorse and after a few episodes turns out to be a psycho who terrorizes Lucy again. This would have at least given Lucy something to do in season 13.

What was she thinking? And did Mitch ever find out?
It was hard to know what Lucy was ever thinking half the time but perhaps that was part of the appeal of the character. I don’t remember if Mitch ever found out though. Maybe she told him later on but off the top of my head I don’t recall a discussion about it that we were privy to.

No, there was no trial or mention of a sentence. Roger just faded into memory and Lucy’s pregnancy and subsequent abortion storyline took front and center.

Quite honestly I’m glad he never returned as the guy just gave me the creeps, although this idea would be better than anything the writers did come up with for Lucy after her return later on.

My memory has chosen to forget details about that story line. I do remember bits of it. It had potential, but was just weird and handled in a weird way.

Roger was good at creepy though.

The best thing to come out of that forgettable creepy story was when Pam confronted Roger.

The Pam from early season was back in that scene!

You guys do know that she was raped, right?

Speaking of that, this was one of the worse handled storylines. How do one of the central characters get raped and it just fades into memory? As far as we know, only Pam, Bobby and Mariel knew. She might have told Mickey later on. There should have been an onscreen trial.

Plus, how does the heiress to the Ewing empire gets raped by some creepy photographer and he doesn't get a dose of "Texas justice?"

Lucy was willing early on, wasn't she? I think the point of the thread was that shouldn't have slept with him at all in the first place. He was so clearly a nut job (which the actor conveyed very believably).

Yes

Exactly, that's why it's not so remembered. So much other stuff happening at that time. No one even missed Lucy until Mitch showed up asking a lonely Miss Ellie if Lucy was about.

Quite! Only a dose of Pam then Bobby and Pam. Then he was gone and soon forgotten.

I knew she was messing around with him and even used him to get back at Mitch once, but was it ever determined that she slept with Roger?

Hard to believe Pam and Lucy never had another scene together after Pam left Southfork later on. She was always there for her, as evident in the abortion storyline not long after this. Pam did more for Lucy at times than her own blood relatives did.

From what I recall, Lucy slept with Roger because she was hurt and vulnerable because she thought Mitch cheated on her. Later, he raped her when he has kidnapped her.
I thought the way the show handled Lucy's feelings surrounding her abortion was well down. I also liked Pam's role in it.
Another aspect was her initial coldness toward Mickey which seemed to be portrayed as a result of the trauma from the Roger situation. I do remember Mickey and Lucy in a motel room and she alludes to this trauma.
An awkward part was how Gary came for the reading of Jock's will and left without ever speaking to Lucy about any of this. Pam explained to a disappointed Lucy that they "downplayed" her kidnapping to Gary and Val so as not to worry them, but how much can you "downplay " something like that? Gary doesn't even ask how she's doing? He couldn't even say, "Hey, I heard you were kind of kidnapped. How's that working out now?"

But who was going to dish out that justice?

Certainly not JR, he would think that's acceptable and probably find the idea perversely pleasurable.

As long as Bobby thumped him around a bit that was his job done.

Who else was going to hunt Roger down for what he did?

It should have been handled a lot better and sensitively.

OT but... Doesn't "Lucille & Murielle" sound like "Romy & Michelle..."? Wasted chances for a spinoff...

How many times we heard JR bring up some "good old boys?" Even Bobby implied that he could have someone killed in the early episode where Pam's long lost husband came back.
