Lucille never should have slept with Roger

But who was going to dish out that justice?

Certainly not JR, he would think that's acceptable and probably find the idea perversely pleasurable.

As long as Bobby thumped him around a bit that was his job done.

Who else was going to hunt Roger down for what he did?

It should have been handled a lot better and sensitively.
Well, Bobby did make it very clear to Roger that if he ever went near Lucy again, it would be the last thing he ever did. Lucy probably wasn't the first woman that Roger raped, or the last, so yes it would have been better had he been sent to jail.

How is Miss (you know what we do with trespassers ) Ellie and JR not informed about this
Miss Ellie did know, didn't she? She visited Lucy in the hospital with Pam and Bobby. Maybe I've misremembered?

I guess she wasn't reaching for her shotgun this time.

Bobby was good at making threats and punching out, but happy to let Roger go after that threat. Wanted more from Bobby here. As you say Roger deserved jail.

I'm quite confident that, offscreen and clad in a simple, custom-lettered t-shirt reading 'VENGEANCE', Muriel dealt with Roger in a manner more brutal than JR could have possibly imagined

Just to be clear, I'm pretty sure Roger went to jail. I remember the scene when Pam told Bobby that Roger raped Lucy and Bobby said, and I'm paraphrasing "it's a good thing he's in jail."
At Swellin & Sugar's wedding rehearsal, Lucy told Mickey that he reminded her of someone "who's in jail".

I could be wrong, but I thought only Muriel, Pam and Bobby knew about Lucy's rape, pregnancy and abortion. Lucy told Muriel she had been raped at the end of season 5 (which, if I recall correctly, was Muriel's last scene), and then Pam at the beginning of season 6. Pam helped her through the abortion and there's a scene later in which Pam tells Bobby about it.
The idea of "Texas justice" is a good one and would be true to several of the characters. It would be particularly interesting if Miss Ellie initiated it. The writers seemed less interesting in developing this story and its aftermath and more focused on getting the battle for Ewing Oil going.

Muriel last appeared in Legacy, when she and Lucy rescue Mickey from a bar quarrel. Too bad for her, who was taking her out to the Libanese paradise Sue Ellen's...

I thought the recurring Ewing friends - like the Andersons and Muriel and Liz Craig - really added flavor to the series. It was a shame to see them phased out.

I don’t think the men had recurring friends outside of Punk for Jock. It was mostly the women. Even Charlie Wade had Marnie. But Bobby and JR and Ray and Cliff didn’t have any friends (Matt Cantrell doesn’t count - he was a dream).

Sue Ellen had a little friend group in the year she was divorced from JR. They were shallow and superficial of course. But at least we saw that she had a life outside the Ewings.

and Muriel
Lucy had her other 2 friends who got her on the pills, I guess that's why they didn't last. She also had lots of friends at the bbq in the pool for Mitch.

Poor Muriel, it was a shame nothing more became of her.
Can still hear Jock saying something like, "didn't know anyone called their child Muriel anymore".

Sue Ellen had a little friend group
Yeah some friends. They appeared from nowhere and as you say were shallow and superficial.

The one husband who touched her up and then that Tom, a friend of her friend who came knocking looking for a good time. Cliff was on the phone then, it's a good job Sue Ellen managed to get rid of Tom.

Then she had her so called friend Clayton Farlow......

Maybe She didn't need quite that kind of life outside of the Ewings.

I'm sure Lucy knew a lot of guys who were in jail.

Yes, it's a shame DYNASTY didn't have much of that. Pamela Bellwood said that the Carringtons had no choice but to marry each other because they never met anybody else.

What on earth did she think had happened to Lucy? What cover up story was she fed? I just can't remember.
I haven’t watched this season in quite awhile now but I think they just told her that Lucy was basically being held captive by Roger the psycho but left out the rape. Perhaps Miss Ellie drew her own conclusions and subconsciously she did know. I’m sure at the very least she had to have suspected it.

I’m rewatching this story now. The abortion angle is tastefully handled and Pam is a supportive friend to Lucy, as she has been since the beginning of the series. It makes it all the more baffling that the Pam/Lucy friendship is completely dropped once Pam leaves Bobby and Southfork in a few months. Pam and Sue Ellen remain friends despite Pam’s divorce, but I don’t think Pam and Lucy ever share another scene after that.

Miss Ellie didn't know anything about Lucy getting raped. They talked afterwards and it was never implied that Miss Ellie knew.

It´s true, but maybe Lucy ghosted Pam because she was getting all the "catches" in Dallas instead of her! First Bobby and then Mark! If I remember well, since then, Pam only remembered Lucy when Bobby told her she had remarried Mitch ("Swan Song"). Pam was always supportive in every way, and when she holds a party, she doesn´t invite Pammy! And she does invite that Jenna skank and Donna Reed too! The nerve!

- Don´t worry honey. It´ll be our little secret. Just invite me to your weddings!
- Ok, I promise!
