Was Bobby Really THAT Dunce When It Came To Katherine?

1. Blackmailing him for the Ewing Oil shares when he thought Christopher was his son.

2. Bringing in Lisa to start a custody battle over Christopher.

Totally agree with this! And there’s so much more that can be added when we think about it. Using Katherine to split up Bobby and Pam comes to mind as well. J.R. did things to Bobby that should’ve been unforgivable. Most brothers never would’ve kept going back for more.

Another one is when JR had that oil tanker sunk knowing it was uninsured when he was recovering from being shot and Bobby was president. He literally tried to sabotage Bobby and Bobby covered for him in the end.

Bobby really should’ve refused to split the company when he won the contest for Ewing Oil, citing all of the above reasons that had happened so far. And he had every right to, considering J.R. was going to do the exact same thing if he had won.

If Katherine was written to be more devious then perhaps I could excuse Bobby's stupidity but she was practically kissing his feet. Let's not forget Holly Harwood was buzzing around as well. Perhaps this was Bobby's ultimate modus operandi...he wasn't actually that dumb. He knew what he was doing and loved the attention.
Exactly, even Holly and Jenna saw through her and threw some great shade at her.

Morgan Brittany left to be the lead in the short-lived series Glitter. So they had to write Katherine out. But by making her go psycho, they left little room for bringing her back. Dallas wasn’t very good at writing out characters and leaving the door open for a return.

Well sometimes it can be hard to know if someone likes you if they don't say it straight out. Especially if you don't reciprocate those feelings, you might not want to see it. Also I think Bobby was too much of a good guy to suspect that his wife's sister might feel more for him than what's appropriate for a sister-in-law.

I think it's pretty ridiculous on Dallas how both Kristin and Katherine are trying to steal their sister's husbands. I mean most sisters are not rivals and want the same men in real life.

They got rid of Katherine too soon. She should have been the female JR only for the Barnes, but also against Cliff.
There could’ve been so much more from her. In hindsight I wish she had stuck around, but with that kind of character there’s always a shelf life unfortunately. Katherine’s exit may have left us wanting more but it’s also good that the character wasn’t overexposed. I’ve always loved the fact that in season 8 dvd she’s not even around for most of it but still managing to pull the strings from behind the scenes and manipulating things in her favor.

In the case of Kristin both she and JR were doing the dance...so to speak. JR had a wandering eye and he famously was caught out by Sue Ellen while eye-balling Pam's magnificent buoys. Funny how JR seemed to have a thing for capturing Bobby's love interests. Oddly still that for any of those women who lived in hope of getting closer to Bobby they had to sleep with JR first...except in the case of Jenna. Was she the only exception?

Pam obviously never slept with JR. So no Jenna wasn't the only exception. In fact the only woman JR and Bobby shared was April.

Of course JR is not without blame. He was older and married and it can be argued that he seduced Kristin. But I think it says a lot about Kristin that she wanted to be with her sister's husband. My point is that it's not normal sister behaviour.

Yes, until Mary Kristin, Kristin was kind of awkward. She was still hungry for money and even went after Bobby when he and Pam had a break up.
Bobby was sweet to this Kristin but quite horrible to the Mary Kristin especially in Ellie saves the day. Because he knew of the affair I guess.

But I think it says a lot about Kristin that she wanted to be with her sister's husband.
When we had Mary Kristin she was all grown up, no longer awkward and even more hungry for position and wealth.
Let's not forget that Patricia Shepard was also all for Kristin getting her hands on JR so she had her own mothers backing and approval to move in on him.
JR didn't need much persuading of course, but he did get bored of her quickly.

My point is that it's not normal sister behaviour.
You're right thank goodness but it creates so much drama for dramas!

No she wasn't. Both Kay Lloyd and the Pam look alike Jeanne O'Brien never hooked up with JR first.

Neither for that matter did Tammy, who later had a brief relationship with Cliff. :)

If everyone on Dallas acted normal and rational, there would be no show.

How true!

I haven't forgotten your remarks about my Step Mother Pamela Barnes Ewing Graison! :(

Normal... no, but certainly not unheard of... goes to bible days....
