Scenes that annoy you

What scene or scene in Dallas (important or filler) annoy you the most.

I'm sure I could come up with a whole list, but one jumps out in my mind immediately.

After the BD Calhoun debacle, Bobby, Ray, and Sue Ellen get back to the hotel after seeing JR at the hospital. Let's forgive the fact that they left Pam alone to care for both boys (one of whom had just been kidnapped and was probably traumatized) plus left it up to her to make all the calls home. Then, when she tries to tell them how worried and upset she is, the ALL dismiss her. Bobby tells her he needs a shower and a cup of coffee. But then the thing that REALLY annoyed me happened. Ray looks Pam dead in the eyes and says "can you order me up a steak?"

Like, he can't pick up the phone, call room service, and order his own dinner? Pam had been alone and worried for hours. No one even listened to her and the men treated her like a damn waitress!

All they cared about is JR, who could have gotten them all killed. And that doesn't surprise me about Ray because he had become unbearable that season.

One scene that annoyed me was in the same season. After the "Wes Parmelee Oil Baron's Ball", they come back to Southfork and Donna says "goodbye, she's going back to Washington tomorrow" and the only response she got was a "good night Donna" from Bobby. They treated Donna like she was the help.

In a way, I guess they treated all the women like the help at some point or the other.

Oh, here's another one that annoys me. After Bobby is shot and no one bothers to call Jenna until the next morning. SE gives a lame excuse about not wanting to tell her until they knew Bobby was going to be okay. Really? No one thought his FIANCE would want to know? And then Jenna's reaction. She wasn't upset at all! Just walked around like a damn zombie, mumbling about getting dressed.

Oh - another one -

After Pam's accident and Christopher runs away...

John Ross asks Bobby if he can help look for Christopher. Bobby tells him just to let his parents know when they "come down "

I mean, it occurs to me that maybe someone should have banged on their bedroom door and said "I know y'all are busy, but Christopher is missing and one of you needs to come down here and stay with your own son while the rest of us go search for your missing nephew!"

All the scenes where Cliff just assumed he was Baby John's Father. Why would he be so certain? Although he knew it hadn't happened for JR and Sue Ellen, she did tell him they weren't exactly strangers.

Cliff constantly whined the whole time to Pam about wanting to see the baby but wouldn't do anything about it himself. Outside the hospital after he's born Cliff swears he wants them both but Bobby stops him going inside. When the baby was kidnapped Bobby huffs in his apartment like a deranged beast and Cliff just shrugs. Then the neurofibromatosis scenes where Cliff just rants all the time and only ever called him by name once.

I just think all the time that was spent on this story (which I loved and love now) I wanted to see Cliff have some interaction with the baby he so strongly believed was his. He only saw him at Priscilla Duncan's house. It's a side to Cliff I wanted to see and the impact of him not being the Daddy would have been even greater and more emotional. Cliff had that side to him back then and could have pulled it off.

Diggers death bed scene really annoys me. I hated that he wasn't Pam's Father. Even now when I know what's coming, it still irritates me that they did the whole storyline of Hutch Mckinney.

Any scenes with Cally, her brothers and the whole of Hailleyville. JR in overalls working the farm....so rubbish.

To be fair there's probably far more scenes that didn't happen that annoy me more than scenes that did actually happen.

That Digger death scene annoyed me too. And it was bad for the show. Made Pam less than....cause she wasn't a Barnes anymore.

Any scene with Ray and Lucy in the miniseries considering how it turned out later.

J.R.’s seduction of Laurel Ellis. Maybe annoyed isn’t the right word. More like disgusted with his actions.

When Pam goes to the nursery to check on John Ross only to find Sue Ellen is already there and now finally showing the baby some affection. I wish Bobby could’ve said something a little more comforting than “He was never yours.”

Any scene with Holly Harwood. Liked the actress but never found the character interesting. The idea of her and Bobby possibly getting together always made me cringe.

Oh and I'm sorry I must add about Winds of vengeance. Poor Sue Ellen on her knees in her swimming costume and no one offers to help her! How could they? Then to just let the kidnappers go

Pam being so late to challenge the kidnappers. If she'd spoken up earlier she could have saved Sue Ellen and everyone else the humiliation of Sue Ellen's rendition of People.
I bet Pam did it on purpose. Bad Pamela!

Sue Ellen is already there
Karma for the above!

The worst part of that episode for me was the end. Lucy was clearly traumatized. SE was humiliated and hurt. And then - everyone just goes to bed.
All that trauma and humiliation could have been avoided if only Pam had spoken up earlier.

At least Lucy was comforted by Jock and Miss Ellie, no one comforted Sue Ellen. Everyone just casually leaves the room and leaves Sue Ellen on her knees crying. She needed a hug!

The best bit was how Sue Ellen grabbed her coat that JR was now trying to put round her and the look she gave to JR and a hobbling Ray.

Those stand alone episodes were always frustrating because scenes like this were never mentioned again.

Especially considering these women had to be looking over their shoulders for awhile when they went anywhere. No charges were filed on the condition those two goons never returned but who knew if they were still out there stalking them.

Not to mention - how many other women did these men victimize because Ellie and Jock refused to hold them accountable?

Had this not been a stand alone episode those issues might have been addressed. Lucy fearful and not so provocative, Pam regretful and admitting she could have acted sooner, although she was quick thinking enough to tell Bobby about her and JR sitting down to a game of back gammon. Sue Ellen worrying if Frick was going to turn up again somewhere. Finding out if he had raped her or watched her get changed into her swimsuit.

Miss Ellie insisted these thugs were let go all to save face and the Ewing name. All to save JR's skin and as parents they still allowed his rotten behaviour. We never saw Jock's reaction to this.

Jock should have punished JR somewhat, even physically. Would love to have seen JR get a Jock punch. Would make a change from a Bobby punch.

Incidentally, Larry talks of this episode in his book and how during filming he gave Lucy a leering look. He was told he couldn't look that way because she was his niece but he continued with the look insisting JR was capable of anything. The look was allowed but I can't say I've noticed it particularly.

I loved the stand alone episodes for what they were but this was always the problem. So many things were never mentioned again that should’ve been, for the very least of which could’ve been used to further the drama later on. There’s so much ammunition in that episode for Sue Ellen to throw back at J.R. down the road. That episode could’ve been used as a tie in to some of Lucy’s future storylines also.

I agree. I wonder if the producers were taking out their feelings towards Victoria at this point (I don't know if they knew then she was leaving). She looks and sounds pissed during the scene, especially when Ray asks her to order him some food. I also seem to remember how different Ray treated Pam than he did Sue Ellen during this whole time. I seem to recall Ray giving a friendly kiss to Sue Ellen and being more attentive to her when she was getting into or out of a limousine at Southfork - although maybe he was having flashbacks of their one-night stand and wanted a second chance with her!

Ray missed Donna terribly and was obviously confused. He became reflective during this time and forgot who he was supposed to be with, hence his sudden display of affection towards Sue Ellen and thinking Pam was supposed to order him food. If Lucy was around at this point it would’ve been even more confusing for him.
