I had a Noël Coward double-bill the other evening.

The Vortex (1969)

Keith and Eddington played a husband and wife, reminiscent of their pairing in The Good Life. I couldn't help thinking how much @Daniel Avery would have appreciated it.

Private Lives (1976)

Another with Penelope Keith. Private Lives is perhaps my favourite in terms of dialogue. Coward at his acid best.

A 1979 TV play version of Coward's Design For Living.

Not Coward's wittiest piece, but the ménage à trois made for an interesting premise.

It was somewhat more daring than I would have expected of the Beeb all those decades ago, what with a Rula Lenska's nipples and a homoerotic shower scene.

Cast Away starring Tom Hanks

Great movie, I would go nuts if I was stranded on a deserted island by myself for that long. I think I would have died from loneliness and depression.

Star Wars, Rogue One. I must have been one of the few remaining people that didn't go to the movies and see this on the big screen. Purchased the Blu-ray and watched it last week. Major disappointment. What were Disney thinking...

SPOILER ALERT!

Using CGI to resurrect two important characters from Star Wars, A New Hope. It was just wrong on so many levels.

I've just watched FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR (1986) grew up watching this wonderful kids film starring the very young and pretty
SARAH JESSICA PARKER.

It's one of many films in the 80s that emulated E.T. (1982), its about a twelve year old boy who disappears on the 4th July 1978 and returns to the very spot eight years later, where everything changed
And every one he knew is now eight years older.

One thing the film does well at is highlighting the culture shock David (Joey Cramer) has when adjusting to the fashion, pop cultural changes and the stark difference between the late 70s and mid 80s

The funniest line on this is:

David: What time is Starskey and Hutch on?

Carolyn: Are you kidding, that show got cancelled years ago!

And

David: My mom took to a Bee Gees concert a couple of months ago

If you haven't seen this film, please do.

Empire of the Ants starring Joan Collins. Absolute dreck, but that's just the sort of movie I love. Joan's character reminds me of every real estate agent I've ever met around here!

Plus: it was filmed (in 1977) in and around where I live.
Iconic!

I watched it mostly for La Collins, but when I realized the movie was filmed around here (IMDB lists locations as Fort Pierce, Sailfish Point/Stuart, Jensen Beach, and Belle Glade), I became interested in seeing if I recognized any of the places. Highly unlikely, since it was filmed in late 1976/early 1977 and this area has seen so much growth in (yikes!) forty years. There is the added problem of the transplanted/retired nature of the residents of this area; there simply aren't very many current residents who were here forty years ago (including myself) to tell tales.

I guess I should just be grateful the giant ants weren't left behind to cause trouble. The invasive pythons and iguanas are enough to worry about.

Guardian of the Galaxy (2014) was the last film I've seen, it was on tv last week.

I really liked this movie, it was funny, had some great action scenes, and most of all the music was great to listen. :danc:
