Ben & Caress, should've had way more history between them, both the much younger siblings of the more favoured children (Blake and Alexis) they could've bonded over this during the late 50s/early 60s.
I always saw Alexis and Caress losing their parents at a relatively young age, around the year 1953, when Alexis was 17 and Caress was 9/10, Alexis (though reluctantly) raises Caress, while Alexis is busy marrying Blake and jet setting around the world we could have two lonely children, Ben and Caress, feeling resentful over their older married siblings, as they grow up they begin to have feelings for one another and eventually they become romantically involved, which later results in a child (Leslie) in 1964, the very year Alexis is kicked out of the mansion and Mother Carrington dies.
