Finding season 7 a marked improvement over season 6 so far.

Even over the last half of Season 6? (Which was an improvement over the first half of Season 6).

You'll probably find the first half of Season 7 to be superior to the second half of Season 7. I'm just guessing.

Let us know, of course. :)

Yes there's a noticeable dip in quality after the oil rig explosion. Michael Culhane hanging around needlessly after Amanda (who just disappears with nothing more than a one liner explanation!), Neil McVane being released from a murder sentence (seemingly just because Mark Jennings wasn't a particularly nice person!), too much Krystina and her heart problems, Dex being shoehorned here there and everywhere, and the god awful Lesley who makes Dominique seem interesting.
I'm dreading season 8 :scream:

Yes, Season 7-B is widely regarded as the series' nadir (with or without Nader). It's the tone that's the problem.

At the time, everybody making nice-nice and singing Kumbaya was cringe-inducing -- the executives thinking that the soaps' meanies were costing them ratings in the era of COSBY and the sitcoms' revival.

Today, I barely notice it. DYNASTY is at its mentally-illest at this point in program. And, no, Senator McVane's early release from prison is inadequately explained.

Everything wrong with DYNASTY, beginning with the very first episode of Season 3, builds to, and converges at, and is flushed-down the creative latrine-potty that was late-Season 7.

I'm dreading season 8

Oh, don't worry. The first episode of Season 8 is godawful, too, but it picks up quickly. As I've rambled on about for millennia, the producers' neglect helps Season 8 (the wall-to-wall music is allowed to lapse, as is the static acting directive) so everything finally relaxes... Yes, the actors seem sleepy, but there is a season-long story arc, there are new writers around, and there is an attempt to actually tell a story (so those typical "I'm-your-daughter"/"I'm-your-husband"/"Why-don't-you-share-your-pain-with-me??"/"Is-that-your-macho-pride-you're-showing?" meanderings in the dialogue don't really happen as much. Which is a relief.

And we finally get to find out about Adam's identity once and for all (although I'm so dumb, it took me several viewing to "get" it --- in this case, my fault and not the show's). An effectively-grim prison scene with actor George Murdock reveals all.

Linda is given little to do, and even working on Blake's gubernatorial campaign, she's not permitted any real grit and, except for slapping Alexis, is forced to pull most of her punches. (Although Senator McVane gets a chance to call Krystle "arrogant" twice --- courtesy, no doubt, of Mike Pollock).

It's not great, Season 8, but at least it makes a little more sense than usual, and it's a wee bit more focused. But break open the caffeine.

Who said anything about kumbaya? I was just making it more realistic why Krystle would want Blake so badly.
Easy.

I see Dirk Maurier has turned up, wasn't he something to do with Peter De Vilbis earlier in the show, yet he seems to be a different character now?

No matter how much I watch it, some things just remain a blur.

I think I saw Gordon Wales in the kitchen with Mrs. Gunnerson the other day; he was drying drinking glasses with a cloth like he worked there, and indignantly correcting her recipe for moo goo gai pan.

I'm sure I saw it.

What in dear God were they thinking:confuse:

There was, allegedly, an avalanche cliffhanger talked about for the Season 7 finale. But @GillesDenver says there were no official plans,
They may have planned to revive Dr. Toscanni instead of Matthew, but Farentino may not have been available.

We just don't know!!! :scream:
