Hakuyozan

According to the list of new Juryo rikishi that has been released by the Nihon Sumo Kyokai there will be four returns but no debut in the sumo's second division for the September tournament.

The rikishi who will regain sekitori status are the Makushita yusho winner in Nagoya, Hakuyozan (from Takadagawa Beya); Enho (Miyagino Beya), who made his debut in Juryo last March; former komusubi Jokoryu (Kise Beya), who was seriously injured in 2016 and was demoted to Sandanme; and Akua (Tatsunami Beya), who made his sekitori debut early this year, in the Hatsu Basho.

On the other hand, the rikishi who called it quit are Rikito (Tokitsukaze), Yoshifuji (Isegahama), Takaseiryu (Takanohana), Bando (Izutsu), Banba (Azumazeki) and Noborifuji (Isegahama).

I'll be curious to see if Yoshikaze stays in the Maegashira ranks in September. I hope Kotoshogiku's injuries from this basho aren't too severe. Both are in the twilight of their sumo careers.
