45th Anniversary Cast Reunion

Jock Ewing Fan

Telly Talk Star
The producers have "dissed" fans, not Victoria. Even though they took their anger at her for leaving Dallas out on her character, she was still willing to play Pam one final time if they would only guarantee her closure for Bobby and Pam, but THEY wouldn't. And when Cynthia Cidre tried to keep dangling the Will She/Won't She carrot in front of fans, Victoria put a stop to it. I'd say that shows a lot respect for fans. And she's always spoken positively about her Dallas colleagues despite digs at her. Just because she doesn't show up at Dallas events, it doesn't mean that she doesn't appreciate Dallas fans.
Interesting perspective. I don't agree. Dallas made VP's a major star. I am sure other actors on the show were not entirely happy with some of their
storylines, but they still performed on the show.

I once saw VP on an episode of Family Feud, I think the others on the panel were Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and SteVe Kanaly.
LH, LG and SK were all joyful and entertaining while VP seemed bored and not wanting to be there.
I have never cared much for her since. And she did return to network TV in that short lived series. So much for her
star power.

Thank you Karin, it certainly was a thrilling experience. I was totally star struck like a little child. I spent some of the time crying, feeling so many emotions. That's how I imagined I would feel if I'd done it years ago and I'm so pleased I felt like that now.
I'm glad you were still able to feel that way. :)
Dallas reminds me of my childhood somehow even though I've got lots of great memories attached to the show as an adult too.

I've seen that Family Feud episode as well and I didn't get the impression that VP was bored and didn't want to be there...the opposite in fact. She seemed engaged and like she wanted to win. The host however seemed creepy as heck.

Victoria also starred in several movies of the week that did very well in the ratings (even a lot higher than that week's episode of DALLAS) after she left. Titans was after she'd been away from acting for years and focusing on her skincare line. I think Yasmine was just a sub par leading lady and bad casting for Titans.

As for the reunion...I'm glad Patrick was quieter and others were allowed to participate more. However, why were Cathy and Sheree relegated to a side table off stage? I'm no fan of their characters but it's very rude to invite them and then seemingly treat them like they were lower tier invitees. Unless they were on stage later when discussions of the later seasons came up???

I would go as far to say Patrick was good on stage, but totally different at the meet & greet, I didn't take any notice though and was too enthralled with Linda Gray. All the rest seemed very genuine and Steve Kanaly is very interesting, I could've listened to him for ages.

I've been wondering why Sheree and Cathy were seated separately too. I can only suggest it was because the stage had limited space. They didn't take part in any of the discussions, but we're introduced along with Michael Preece. I've also never been a fan of their characters, but do wonder how that decision was made to sit them apart. It didn't look quite right.

It was nice to see clips with Victoria, a bit of her Wogan interview and an interview where she discusses how the press invaded her wedding to Harry Glassman due to her stardom. No mention of Susan Howard, only as Donna and brought up by Steve.
I guess an event like that will always disappoint some fans if their favourites aren't mentioned.

So they weren't brought out later on either. Gosh, that's so distasteful in my opinion. The other cast should have invited them out and made room. I'm not deliberately insulting the organizers....I just truly do think they were wrong to treat Cathy and Sheree that way.

I'm glad they recognized Victoria and indeed Susan should have been mentioned.

Only at the end when it was over, as they were leaving the stage, they all stood together for a brief time on the stage for photos. They all sat together for the meet & greet.

I'm so pleased to tell you all I attended the event, what an amazing night!! It's a long story how we got here, but my husband managed to contact the organisers and get us booked in for meet & greet. We are in Palm springs literally for the event, spending only 3 nights here all the way from the UK.

I have spent 45 years waiting for this night as I've never been in the position to achieve my dream before. I'll put some pics on tomorrow when I've come down from my high.
I was not disappointed in any way and actually spent time chatting with the beautiful Linda Gray who has been my idol since I was 9 years old.
What a truly amazing woman and I told her so. They were all fantastic and I got all their autographs, but you can tell Linda is so gracious to her fans.
Thank you so much for sharing your personal photos with the cast. It will be the closest I'll get to meeting the actors who played such a huge part in my younger years and still do. Meeting the likes of Linda Gray in person must have been a surreal moment for you - one of those pinch me moments, am I dreaming? GOD forbid if Pamela Ewing should wake up!

Nothing has been said of Morgan Brittany. She should have arrived with the yellow roses, handed them to Patrick and said, "Pamela sends her regards."

It certainly was very surreal and I'd rehearsed a hundred times what I would say if I got the chance to talk to her.

In the end I was just overwhelmed, but I do remember you posting some time ago if you ever met her you would want to say thank you, I recalled that and thanked her for what she brought to Dallas for her fans. I also told her about this forum, which she showed great interest in and I joked I don't let anyone say bad things about Sue Ellen!
Linda Gray was the only one I really went for and she was so gracious and giving of her time, they were all lovely to meet (well, maybe except one which was a massive let down for me) I feel very blessed that I had that chance, apparently her and Patrick only stayed for the meet & greet for about an hour then left which left some fans obviously disappointed.

I meant to post earlier it was on YouTube, the couple that filmed it were there.

I've been trying to upload it since Saturday but the site was down and has only been restored today (Wednesday.)

Looks as if everyone all had a good time.

I got emotional watching it as I kept thinking about the stars who have since passed away. Barbara Bel Geddes, Jim Davis, Ken Kercheval, Howard Keel, Steve Forrest and Jared Martin to name a few of my favourites. May they all Rest In Peace.

Aww that's lovely, yes I went through moments of thinking about all those no longer here.

Silly me saying the couple that filmed it were there, obviously they were!! I can be so daft sometimes.

Another lost weekend for me when the site went down, boo hoo!!

It is great to see them all looking so well, minus Victoria of course but of course she always claims to look good. By the the same token the most elusive DALLAS star does have a lot of help. Damn that's a secret.

The one and only Sue Ellen.

At the annual Oil Barons Ball there is an announcement from Jock's good friend Punk Anderson. A new award 'Jock Ewing Scholarship' will be presented this year. Ellie speaks to the audience, with Bobby and J.R. at her side, (a scene from season 5; DVD-6, 1982-'83):

Ellie: "Jock Ewing was a great man, measured in the only true value of a man. Not in money or power but in friends. As I look around, I see so many of you that called Jock 'friend.' And he was my husband. But more than that he was my best friend. I know how much you all miss him. But in a way he’ll always be alive in your memories. And in his family. And now through the scholarships of SMU. I know how very proud he’d be if he knew what you’d done for him. And perhaps he does. And for him and for me, I thank you! My life will never be the same without him. But Jock of all men always believed that you had to be ready to face tomorrow. And so we will. I’ll always know that my sons had the finest father and I was married to the finest man that God ever put on this earth."

It's interesting comparing this original version of this episode (with Broughton's score) to the music-deleted version that appeared on Region 1 DVDs (and elsewhere).

I think my preference is a mix: I liked Ellie waking up and going downstairs in silence, but feel the music should have resumed as she approached her chair in the dining room and then has her "I have the rest of my life to listen to you" flashback with Jock. (The Region 1 version only had the score resume as JR went out back to get his freeze frame, which is much too late).
