For some reason, I spent most of yesterday in an algorithmic loop sifting through one video on Lennon's assassination after another. It's kinda yuck. I've always seen Lennon's death, which I recall vividly, as the last insane act of the '60s/'70s dual decade -- even though it happened in December 1980. ("The '80s" didn't really begin until 1981).
Mark David Chapman is "interesting". He was known to be very "nice", polite, very professional in the personal care home in which he worked, and highly intelligent. And he's still married to the same woman even today! (He has strong horoscopic similarity to Hitler and Sandy Hook spree-shooter Adam Lanza)... In recent years, an apparent ploy to make parole, Chapman has admitted that the entire "schizophrenia" story was a scam and he just killed Lennon out of envy.
And I can see why so many people blame Yoko as the cause of The Beatles' breaking up (McCartney admits she basically was). But she's so unhinged in her narcissistic, icky look-at-me-ism, that one would be inclined to blame her anyway. She's so hard not to dislike. (Paul recently told Howard Stern, who tends to interview himself, that John was accustomed to being around assertive women).
