Yes. It was - and still is - amazing from a rating standpoint. It kept rising till the last season. For 8 years. That's quite fantastic.
I need to watch it. I'm a huge fan of Vikings so maybe I will like it, even if I know they are quite different beasts.

There is no accounting for taste. I have a friend who loves Vikings but could not get into Game of Thrones, whereas while I followed Vikings' first season, I found it the poor man's Game of Thrones when it came to "palace intrigue," and eventually gave up at the end of the season. Now, the magic of Game of Thrones (the dead army, the three-eyed crow, the dragons, the children of the forest) took me a while to accept, because I am not by nature into these. The power machinations were more thrilling. Yet in the course of its run, the show made them work. Mostly.

You're right. There is no accounting for taste. Maybe I was lucky to start with Vikings (maybe) because this way it didn't suffer comparison. And I wasn't sold on season 1 to be honest. Season 2 got me hooked, and the show got better and better each season (I mean to my taste)

I don't know if i will be able to get into GOT, but I'm sure i should give it a try.

Ms. Van Kamp is the real reason why season nine of "Dallas" is called "the dream season".

She was the sole reason why I enjoyed The Dream Season. From memory the writers hinted at Grace and Angelica being "more than friends" or was it just wishful thinking on my part? Grace (Merete) easily equalled Pam (Victoria) in the beauty stakes. Okay, going off topic here. Someone please start a thread dedicated to Grace and Merete Van Kamp

Yeah yeah yeah, that's all very funny, but Merete was a SMASH hit when she starred in Princess Daisy. She was in all the magazines and everybody wanted to know "who IS this beautiful actress?"
Since so many Dallas fans hate the dream season I think she would have been more appreciated on Dynasty or The Colbys.

Well, I have hated the Dream Season, but I always liked Grace.

But I think Emilia Clarke off of Game of Thrones is more famous than Merete Von Kamp ever was - certainly over here. (If that was what the original point, I can't quite remember.)

Imagine if they had recast her as Amanda...actually I think it would have been an upgrade.

Kidding aside, I loved the novel as a teen, and liked the mini-series. Rupert Everett was amazing in it. And that was his first kinda major role, too.
