I think the scenario JR was Digger's son is the one which stands out. All the others are just pie-in-sky fluff which never would have eventuated on small screen America in the 80's.

I’m intrigued by the idea of Wes and Katherine working together. I’ll take it over the way his storyline ended and her brief return the next season that ended up meaning nothing (unless of course she really abducted Pam. Then her return does mean something).

Having been a fan of Angelica, I like the idea of her being a dark figure from Pam’s past and returning in her dreams. Actually I’ve always felt that had there been no dream Angelica could’ve been involved in faking Bobby’s death somehow over the boring Marinos shipping storyline, but perhaps that’s too convoluted for Dallas.

Pam dreaming the entire series is also kind of interesting. I like this as the finale had Victoria agreed to it. It definitely sounds better than what Conundrum gave us.

I wish they kept Barbara Carrera. I think she is a very intriguing actress and love every role of hers. I love the idea of her being a person Pam met, perhaps as Andrea Barrett, the alias she used on the run. Andrea could have been a businesswoman that was involved with Mark and met Pam and him during their Paris trip off screen. In the following season post Dream, Andrea Barrett arrives, becomes involved with Wendell, who finds her to be the most interesting woman he ever met. Andrea marries Wendell, who dies and leaves everything of Westar to her. Andrea is the mother of Tommy and Tracy, who is played by J Lo. Andrea is the main antagonist instead of McKay in the last few seasons if not more.

Anything involving Section 40, JR's parentage, Cliff's parentage, and serial murder (Lady Jessica in Season 13, handled like a horror movie and not facetiously) are something I'm always up for.

Obviously, Sue Ellen and Mandy were deeply in love. It's no coincidence that Sue Ellen left Texas shortly after Miss Winger did. I just tend to assume Ian McShane was the post-op Mandy.

Would the fans have loved it if Angelica Nero returned as Nicolas Trevino's biological mother?

Yes, I think they would.

I voted for "the Ewings lose everything".
Of course it would be a terribly predictable storyline but I'd love to see the look on their faces, and all the cars with stuff leaving Southfork.
Miss Ellie and JR would have a huge argument, they did it so well.

We know that the events in Pam's dream didn't happen, but it is very unlikely - perhaps even impossible - to dream up completely new people.
A dream is a processing phase and it's always connected with something that has happened for real, even if it was only two seconds.
This means that the all the new Dream Season characters already existed before she started to dream. Perhaps the news mentioned something about Marinos Shipping, with Angelica as their glamorous spokesperson. "We're very excited about our first deal with an American blabla".
And more importantly, this also means that these characters didn't stop existing just because Pam woke up.

It's kinda eerie to think that Pam had seen Ben Stivers before everyone else did. Was he hanging around, sneakily, waiting to get in? Did she spot him in a happy picnic photograph, the way Danny Waleska appeared in Gary's home video? Or did she see him hiding behind Miss Ellie's bed, the way Sarah Palmer remembered Killer Bob in Laura's bedroom?
And does that mean we have to reconsider everything?
Sorry I didn't mean to turn everything upside down for the DALLAS fandom.

These are some things that I want to see happen in the last five or so years of the show:

**A different explanation for Bobby's resurrection than "the dream" (one that only takes one episode but more than one scene).

**After Pam's crash and disappearance, JR learns that one of his tanker trucks doing illegal business for him in the Texas badlands (because EO had been censured by the feds) was the vehicle Pam careened into, leaving JR running around half the season trying to keep Bobby from finding out. And once Bobby learns the truth and the requisite dunk in the pool, Bobby has to once again run around trying to keep the feds from finding out.

**Miss Ellie is reluctant to call in the authorities during the range war because, as we eventually learn, there is something buried under Section 40 that she doesn't want discovered -- something Wes Parmalee whispered in her ear before taking off a year earlier. Lucy and Afton go into business together running a youth nightclub, but then set their sights on purchasing The Oil Baron's Club where the two women can exercise their bartenders'-ears, picking up gossip the men in their lives can utilize.

**After Roy Ralston has JR and his mama on his local talk show for P.R. reasons following the EO tanker spill, Miss Ellie is such a hit that following a couple of appearances (and Ralston's show -- finally -- goes national) the local station offers Ellie her own chat show (something David Jacobs suggested for the Travolta movie which never happened). JR is all for it. Clayton and Bobby, predictably, are wary of the prospect. Ultimately, Ellie agrees to the project and charms the audience with her recipes, homespun wisdom and fireside witticisms. But things start to go wrong when she begins verbalizing liberal pro-environmental sensibilities publicly which horrify JR and the cartel alike, leading JR to desperate measures to pull the plug on his mama's show -- resulting in something that inadvertently endangers her life. In the hospital, Ellie whispers a secret to Clayton, a secret that Clayton, after a few drinks, bellows out in the Southfork living room: that JR is the biological son of Digger Barnes! (That can be undone, if we prefer, within a year when DNA tests show that JR, reluctant to submit to them, is in fact Jock Ewing's offspring and not the brother of Cliff and Pam -- but imagine the field day Cliff would have with the revelation, and how vicious as a snake it would all make JR!) Also, Lady Jessica's axe-murder spree, once she's released from the asylum, would be directed towards the Dallas cartel who'd all slept with her in the '40s and '50s, blackmailing them all for decades with the claim they'd fathered Dusty, those checks bankrolling her lifestyle pre- and post-marriage to Lord Montford, until the cartel learns of the scam at the eleventh hour and all stop paying... One more thing, JR and Bobby suspect their all-too-easy incarceration of Jeremy Wendell a few months earlier was not what it seemed: he never went to prison and instead disappeared, still running Weststar with Carter McKay as the front man., in order to lull the Ewings into an unvigilant calm

**April is Bobby's non-homicidal stalker who follows he and Tracey, his new wife, to Paris where the two women are mowed down in the massacre unleashed by Susan Hillary Lucci-Taylor. In his grief, Bobby turns to Afton, estranged from Cliff as he chases Michele Stevens and her piece of Ewing Oil -- infuriating Cliff because yet another Ewing man has stolen another Barnes woman... On the lam from the law for something really serious, Carter and Jeremy in a private plane helmed by McKay (also vengeful over his daughter's death) descend on a late-season Southfork barbecue intent on crashing it into the festivities --- usually cold-as-ice Wendell is horrified and starts to scream, and Carter crashes the aircraft into the edge of the pool as terrified guests scramble to get out of the way. Later that night, Sue Ellen, back in town for JR's funeral after he faked his own death a couple of weeks earlier, is sitting out back at a table, the party having long-broken up; she gives him the same dismissive attitude he gave her 13-years earlier at the end of the first "Barbecue" episode. You see, while EO was seriously weakened, Sue Ellen put together a consortium of investors who bought out the company, saving it from acquisition by others, but she then vindictively places Cliff in the role of CEO, appalling JR, but even Bobby and Miss Ellie are just a wee bit amused... The final scene of the season has Miss Ellie and the Ewings riding on horseback out to Section 40 in order to show her family something "before I pass away,' but as fate would have it, upon reaching Section 40, Ellie is thrown from Jock's stallion, and the family scrambles around her before she dies.

**DALLAS would get an extra year. It would deal with Ellie's will and the fallout in the family over her unexpected death. Bobby and Cliff learn Pam might be dead and that now-deceased Jeremy Wendell may have had something to do with her disappearance. (Just as unsettling, she may have succumbed to adult-onset neurofibromatosis, potentially making her a Barnes after all -- was Rebecca confused, or just dishonest, about Hutch McKinney being the biological father?). The company still teetering on collapse, the Ewings decide to open up Section 40 -- although Lucy and Afton wisely refuse to accompany them, warning the rest of the Ewings to remain at home as well. Out on the platform, it collapses, sending the family deep into the bottomless hole beneath, JR, Bobby, Ray & Donna (back together, having returned a year earlier for JR's fake funeral) clinging onto the edges for dear life, eventually losing their grip and cascading down into the darkness of the cavern. The camera pans away, the dusty scene set to some ambivalent, majestic Richard Lewis Warren musical cue, and moves into a shot of the Dallas skyline in the distance.

No freeze frame, no more music, fade to black.

Series over.

Lucy as J.R.'s daughter would have definite possibilities. For one thing, it would have given her character something meaningful and interesting in the later years, and she could have easily been a deliberate thorn in J.R.'s side in the later years as he tried to figure out how to deny her her spot in the company and she used her wiles and influence to sabotage his business deals.

Andrea Barrett arrives, becomes involved with Wendell, who finds her to be the most interesting woman he ever met.
later she gets involved with Hollywood producer Bruce Harvey, who went on to be the World’s Most Interesting Man..

not only does Dallas not decline and fade away, it becomes unequivocally the world's most interesting show, still on the air to this day...

BOBBY is the one who should have had the dream! Such a trauma caused him to DIE.... and return. The season plays out as usual.... the season finale, instead of the dumb shower scene- we are brought back to that moment, this time BBG is in the room..... he flatlines........everyone is crying......THEN staff rush in.....Bobby is saved and everyone gathers round crying and laughing....
FREEZE FRAME
The season opener, he explains his "DEATH"... his weird DREAM.. ..He tells Ellie that he saw "Grandaddy Southworth," Add some more drama of not walking very good and memory issues....bam... saved the show again. A stretch but not as terrible as what occurred.

I'd have liked Charlie to be trampled to death by her horse. As a thank you from the Dallas fans the horse is then added to the opening credits.
Dragged a few hundred feet and then trampled.

I’ve heard worse. I definitely prefer it to what was actually done. Like any explanation they would’ve done it requires some suspension of disbelief and there will always be some loose ends but I could’ve lived with this scenario.

I do find myself softening on the dream resolution as I get older though. I’m not sure why but I’ve accepted it for what it was. It was far from perfect but I admire it for the risk they took. I know some will question whether it was really a risk at all and tend to view it as a cop out that backfired, and I do understand that opinion. I’m just saying that after all these years I find myself looking at it a little differently now.
