Instead of writing all of the 1985-86 off as a dream and making it as though the ending act of Swan Song never happened, I offer this.
While in the mental hospital, Edgar Randolph remembers his early days of being a doctor. He's the surgeon on duty when Bobby is hit by Katherine's car, flies into the air and then bounces. Because Martin E. Brooks is unavailable, the physician's role in played by Alan Oppenheimer, on loan from his Skeletor duties in He-Man. In a flashback sequence to begin the 1986-87 season, Mr. Brooks is again available to play Dr. Edgar Randolph, who reveals that a young colleague of his suggested cryogenics to maintain Bobby's life until his innards are functioning better. That happy recovery moment occurred a year a half after the accident in May 1985. Only Miss Ellie knew about this but she was so busy getting her old face back it slipped her mind.
Sadly, as is the case when Marty Brooks revives dead characters, Bobby has no memory of Pam and he being an item which drives an emotional wedge between her and new husband Mark Graison. Bobby's most recent memory is that of being the company pimp. Now that Jock has returned in the form of Ben Stivers, the Ewings are all back together and Clayton Farlow is out of Southfork because bigamy is illegal so his marriage to Ellie is declared void. Howard Keel joins the cast of Growing Pains following the death of James Coco.
With this, Ray and Donna stay married. Tony stays adopted. Jamie is still dead. Sue Ellen was safely away from the explosion so survives it. Jack still leaves but with Jenna on his arm when Bobby's memory returns and is reunited with Pamela. Mark died of his whatever he had. Jerry leaves with no fanfare.
