4 p for an Aero, I paid £1.15 in sainsburys today

I would literally kill for a Fry's Five centres again

Nibble round the outside, before leaving the orange (my fav to the end)

I once got a Caramc Easter egg, I was most unhappy as I didnt like the bar!!

Bar Sixes were always in vening machines at train stations and I loved a Waifa bar

My mum didnt like me eating a Curly Wurly as the choc dropped off and would leave a choc blob on the settee if you werent careful.

It’s shocking how much prices are increasing and in many cases, the bars of chocolate are shrinking.

They were my favourites too. I also miss the Dark Bounty.

I loved a Waifa bar
Another favourite of mine too, especially the dark one.

Haha!! Yes, my mum was the same.

Sindy. I had a bad habit of ruining my dolls by cutting their hair.

Girl-Hula-Hoop.jpg

I enjoyed hula hooping or juggling two tennis balls against the wall .

The best thing ever was, just give me a piece of chalk and I'd play hopskotch for hours on end.

I loved my Tiny tears doll and pram - santa brought me it aged 4.

I could never "go" rollerskates, always tripping, always falling over with a few skint knees for my troubles

My roller skates ended up as a stretcher for Barbie if she was ill and needed to go into hospital

I loved a game of hopskotch and this Chinese ropes or we called it Chings - i was good til it got to waist height

Liked 2 balls against a wall

1704656785385.jpeg

and loved Frustration and Chinese chequers

That's what we called French skipping.
It's fascinating the different names for things.

I was so good at roller skating and had a pair of roller boots one Christmas and often went to the local roller disco on a Saturday afternoon (Lucy Ewing eat your heart out!) Would often call for my friends some distance away on my roller boots.

Goodness knows where my balance and Co ordination skills have gone now, I'm not very safe on my feet anymore even without wheels!

This thread does bring back memories. :)
Still technically I think the members we have on this board either grew up in the 60s and 70s, 70s and 80s or 80s and 90s. In fact some of our youngest members even grew up in the 90s and 2000s!

But yes this thread does bring back lots of memories from the 80s and even 90s for me. I think back then toys didn't change that rapidly so some of the stuff that was popular in the 70s would still be around until the 90s.

It's also fascinating how global things were. Whether we grew up in Europe, the USA or elsewhere we seemed to have played with a lot of the same toys.

Also being a girl, my favorite toys were these:

Yep I was a big My Little Pony girl. I loved playing with my ponies more than Barbies!:D

Then as for reading. The Sweet Valley High books were really popular among the girls in my class when I went to Middle School.

I think children spent far more time being physically active playing outside before computers, the world seemed a safer place.

Did you ever have a 'Footsie'?

I was once quite the expert at this, I don't think I would be now

One year I was surprised to get an expensive Silver Cross dolls pram for Christmas ..

My parents weren't well off and its only recently I learned that my Dad won it in a raffle :D

Its amazing how much fun could be had with a piece of string, did you play Cats Cradle?

Talking of technology, I would sit for ages going through this. As well as using it for other things like news and holiday last minute deals.
I used to play Bamboozle over on Teletext ..

It wasn't very sophisticed and was frustrating because each time I got a question wrong it sent me right back to Question one again :a2:

did you play Cats Cradle?
Can't remember what we called it, but I just didn't have the dexterity for it. I used to practice with my sister as I longed to be able to play it but I was rubbish.

I also didn't understand it, reminded me of sewing classes so it obviously wasn't for me.

Every Christmas at primary school we used to queue up to stir the enormous bowl of Christmas pudding and make a wish.

I always wished for a dolly in a red carrycot.

I never put it on my list for Father Christmas as I thought it would be greedy to ask for it twice.

I was so disappointed as I never did get my wish.
