How would you have implemented the pilots/first episodes of other primetime or daytime soaps to fit Dallas? I could see Falcon Crest's pilot for Dallas. Lucy is fooling around with her lover Kit Mainwaring in the barn when a drunk Garrison strolls by and hears a noise. He climbs up to the hayloft and gets in a fight with Kit. Lucy comes and accidentally knocks Garrison off the hayloft. They look in horror as he lands on a pitchfork. Lucy's mother Miss Ellie comes by with Raoul, and they set up Garrison's truck to go over a hill and explode. Garrison's only son Ray is an airline pilot in another state. His wife Donna is a journalist, and they have a young adult son and daughter. They fly to Dallas for the funeral. Miss Ellie and her slimy attorney Harv Smithfield try to buy Ray's Section 40, but he later decides he wants to take over the land and relocate his family. Valene, the older child of Miss Ellie and her ex Jock is the foreman, and her son Bobby is an irresponsible playboy who does dirty favors for Miss Ellie. Midway through the first season Miss Ellie and prominent neighboring rancher Digger Barnes plot to unite their empires by having Bobby marry his feisty, greedy daughter Pam. Ray's mother Cherie Simmons comes back to Dallas briefly to see Ray and her grandchildren. Her old rivalry with Miss Ellie is explored. Val's ex Gary Clements and Bobby's father comes back to get back together with Val, but he is run out of town again after trying to talk her to run away. The Ewings wind up in court after Ray begins to piece things together and suspects foul play in Garrison's accident. Jock drops dead of a heart attack, and Miss Ellie vows revenge. Lucy, who has been losing her mind throughout the season, admits the truth on stand. Jock's will reveals an unknown son J.R. Will inherit Ewing Oil.
