People have been trying to get ITV to repeat Corrie from the start or allow another service to do it for as long as I can remember having access to the internet and before the ITV3 re-runs which for some reason they decided to start in 1986 after the overwhelming majority of classic characters had left the show when they began the ITV3 re-runs in 2017. Even getting them not to launch copyright claims against YouTubers uploading the episodes from the era they refuse to repeat has been a failure making it impossible to watch episodes from this era as they get taken down from the internet by ITV but aren't being legitimately made available anywhere. There was at one point clamour for a DVD series which would have obviously been impractical but streaming services and the internet have made a full re-run far more practical. For whatever reason they seem unwilling to do so or even to relinquish the rights to another channel/streaming service to do so on their behalf. I've contacted a number of different broadcasters about this over the years and the general response is that they'd do it if they could and some have even made enquiries/steps towards doing it but for whatever reason can't obtain the rights to these episodes.
Anyway, why ignore the 1960s? The ideal is for them to start showing the show from Episode 1 and continue through from then until they get too close to the modern show. We know they all exist (barring I think one episode) and have been digitised yet there seems to be an active block on them being repeated anywhere in any form. I don't see why whoever owns the rights to these episodes can't give them an official upload on a streaming service or even just add them to YouTube on an official account. At least that way they could be shown unedited and in their original form rather than being butchered by edits in case they offend anyone going out on ITV3 afternoon slots. The demand to see these glory years clearly exists given how successful the ITV3 re-runs have been and how often we come across threads on forums like this requesting the back catalogue to be made available but unfortunately it seems like we're all screaming into the void and there is some reason not being shared with us that this hasn't happened yet. That's not to say it'll never happen but it seems unlikely it will unfortunately.
Because Coronation Street is a tired old soap and how both Coronation Street and EastEnders were both lucky to last a decade on TV where EastEnders lost its credibility altogether since 2013 and the worst British soap out of the 4, when Coronation Street won against EastEnders at the soap awards in 2013 and how EastEnders has had a lot of farfetched retconned storylines and characters backstories altered, and how Emmerdale Farm evolved into Emmerdale, again all 4 of the main British soaps aren't what they once were, and so it's at the stage now where the best British soap is Hollyoaks due to format/structure whereby it reduced the number of episodes back to 2-3 episodes per week and have evolved over time with a more diverse range of older characters and not like how it was when it first began in the 1990s and has now been going well over 30 years.
With Coronation Street's termination/conclusion/end eventually in time, it would need a slight revamp into the next decade and beyond, with the soap being targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience but eventually broadening its appeal to teenagers like how Hollyoaks originally was in the 1990s until around the 2010s, ultimately with a cast of 15 characters instead of over 38, the longest-serving actor obviously being William Roache, who portrayed Ken Barlow since the first episode.
The exterior of the pub in Coronation Street should be repainted over a 7 year period to Red and Gold/Brown and Cream or vice versa, like the pub in EastEnders, which would either be a brief shift to a brown/red tone and then the relaunch look representing a classic old Manchester pub. The pub would have the look of a traditional smooth and silky pub/boozer that could fit into any era also whether present or past.

Youtube would seem the logical home for original episodes of Corrie as the infrastructure exists. Your idea of an official channel could be both beneficial to ITV and Youtube as ads would assist in the upkeep of the channel and both ITV and Youtube are making something from it. Or if customers wish to pay extra to Youtube to not show ads well it's still a win/win for everyone.
I understand there are issues pertaining to copyright and residual payments to actors, writers/producers/directors but allowing classic series like Corrie to sit on a shelf collecting dust achieves nothing.
Whenever Sons and Daughters is given another run here in Australia poor old Beryl (Leila Hayes) goes running to the media screaming, "Where are my residual payments?" My counter argument is no one could have predicted in 1982 we would someday be streaming.
Could it be that residual payments or the threat of legal action is preventing ITV from showing classic episodes?
