There is nothing more fabulous than dramatically de-wigging after a hard days filming. I'd have loved Alexis to tear off her own wig and throw it at someone in a rage on Dynasty.

I'm not really loving any of these promos. It feels like they're doing the show a disservice by promoting it with such frothy, tongue in cheek ads. We know it's a soap, but for those unfamiliar with Dynasty, it just looks like a comedy about rich people being frivolous with money.

Even the promos for Titans back in 2000 had more depth than these pieces of fluff. In saying that, I'm hopeful that they're not a true reflection of what the show is and is just the work of the CW's misguided promotional team.

I'm thinking the same. What made Dallas, Dynasty and those other 80's Soaps work was they were played straight.

And that scenario is going to wear thin real quick. If the new series fails I'd like to be the first in line to say, "told you so."

Spot on. Comedy is funniest when it is played straight and the same goes for over-the-top soap melodrama. It's ok for the viewer to know it's ridiculous but as soon as it becomes obvious the writers and actors think so too, the magic disappears and it just looks lazy, and - worse - dull.

The trouble is that the tongue-in-cheek approach worked for Schwartz on The OC and he doesn't seem able to let go of it - even though it ruined that show too by the end when they started taking it too far.
