Dallas Referenced On Dynasty

So I was checking out some videos on youtube and stumbled upon the following one;

At about 1:32 into the video Sammy Jo is sitting on the bed and reading a magazine. At 1:34 pause the video. We see the cover of the National Enquirer with a headline, "Denver-Carrington Heir Found. Steven Carrington Alive.

Look closely at the photo below the heading. I'm not sure if the writers of Dynasty slipped this in quietly as a nod to Dallas. Rather odd.

I've noticed that Dallas cast photo too!
Joan Collins has referred to the Dallas stars on occasions in her books. In one fictional book she referred to the ladies of Dallas as "the dallas dolls".
In another book she wrote that she'd known Larry since before Dallas.
In yet another book she mentioned how Linda has aged really well.

And Joan Collins mentioned recently that she turned down a role in Hollyoaks that then went to Linda Gray, just days before Linda Gray started filming.

I doesn't seem possible that it was not deliberate. Whether nod or insult.

Yes, I've heard that Joan and Larry, ahem, "dated".

Yes, I've heard that Joan, ahem, "dated" Larry.

Larry says he briefly dated Joan and her sister Jackie when they were teens, but it was very innocent.

In the late-'80s, Larry claims he and Joan wanted to do each others' shows so J.R. and Alexis could have an affair, but that "our producers would never go for it."

I'm not sure how that would have worked. I can see Blake and Krystal being invited to Dallas as guests to the Oil Barons Ball. If they wanted a longer story-arc between both series there would have to be some connection...and organic at that.

The funny thing is I don't see Alexis fitting in at Dallas but I do see JR in Denver.

She did? Oh yes, of course, I remember now.
What a bizarre coincidence.

I'm sure you've heard this, but Katzman hired Eddie Peck for his brief, OTT role on DALLAS in order to minimize the mystery of 'Who Killed Roger Grimes?' on the rival series to which Katzman's deputy, Paulse, had escaped.

If Uncle Lenny had only placed all his scheming in DALLAS' later-seasons' plot construction rather than trying to sabotage DYNASTY (which no one was even watching anymore anyway, although its final year was great).

Dynasty was always more fantasy than reality, even in the post Pam Years Dallas still had some resemblance to reality, the problem was that it had several major missteps that ruined its credibility.

I’m not even sure I can see any Dynasty character on Dallas, but I can see a Dallas character being realism to Denver

I think you're confusing "reality" with a "sense of place". If we ever understood that the Carrington saga took place in Colorado we sure had forgotten all about it at the start of season 4 (when it needed sense of place, both Colorado and Europe, more than ever).
