Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

Good remastering done on this scene.
Stunning. I cannot thank you enough @Garry for dropping these little gems here at TellyTalk. I still have my pennies cast aside in readiness for the Blu-Ray release which I hope Warner Bros will announce sooner rather than later.

This HD restoration really brings out the details I haven't notice before. In this video I noted when Amanda walks away from Bobby and is comforted by the nurse we watch Miss Ellie and Jock standing side by side, distraught by what they have just witnessed. The framing is so tight Jim is standing slightly behind Barbara Bel and as he turns to offer some small comfort his right arm has to come from behind Barbara which causes her to slightly react. Her reaction is a testament to her skill at not allowing this obvious bump/movement to interfere with the scene. I'm assuming it wasn't intended but somehow it adds weight to Miss Ellie's discomfort.

Brilliant 10/10

I'd forgotten how great that scene is, it's even more incredible in HD if it could be more incredible.

The brilliance of Dallas and everyone in that scene, just wow!

I don't know. This copy of the scene is more vivid, yes, but I kind of miss the lighting change, where the shadows are suddenly darker, in the shot of Ellie, Jock and Amanda just before Amanda runs to Bobby. That's gone now.
But it was never meant to look like that dark. That was 80's mastering. I compared the new remaster scene with the DVD. Like night and day.

Thank you very much Garry for once again giving us an absolutely essential moment in the saga. This scene is huge, and tells us so much about the interactions between the different protagonists. All. And what a wonderful restoration job. The colors are vibrant. Can't wait to have it on blu-ray, no matter the little details or other imperfections.

most of the times i can't tell when it comes to certain thing's but than sometimes you really can tell the difference, for example back in the 90's they remastered 2 movies The Wizard of Oz (1939) which if you watch the (1989) copy for the 50th Anniversary which i do have on VHS the transfer on that is so f.. bad it's painful to watch,

than the other is the masterpiece that is Night of the Living Dead (1968) i know that's a Public Domain film which was made one quite by accident actually.

i'm too tired to remember how that did happen as i just came home from work. but if you look at the VHS copy of really any company's of the film from the 80's and even into the really early 90's it's really hard to watch it's such in piss poor condition. than they remastered them in the mid to late 90's and WOW the difference it makes.

so yes sometimes you can tell the difference and for certain old tv shows you can tell as well. i don't care about them streaming i want those suckers on my shelf

Apple and Vudu are streaming the full HD episodes in the USA. Freevee are also using the remastered episodes in the US. There is a big improvement in quality compared to the DVD release.
Yes i know i have the hd episodes from Apple. But is the blu ray version even better ? I don’t want purchase it if it’s the same quality as the hd version

From what I've read here, more than once, it feels like the closing credits are the real essence of the show. Imagine some new kids fell in love with Dallas, watch the whole thing, and then someone says to them: no, no, but you haven't seen the real thing yet, they changed the fonts of the closing credits! It's a totally different show when you watch it with the real closing credits! (What???)

OT-- it would also be if some new fan fell in love with Emergency!, and saw all of that on DVD, and then someone said that this new fan had not truly seen the show because it wasn't in sparkling crystal-clear HD (season 6 was remastered in HD, IIRC); personally, the so-so transfers of much of season 3 and all of seasons 4 and 5 have done nothing to detract from my enjoyment of that hit NBC medical/action series of the 70s (the stories are still involving and never dull, whether it be the paramedic and fire/rescue action, or the medical drama at the emergency room of Rampart General Hospital [who can say that about the Chicago series of now, also on NBC?]).

All seasons of Emergency were remastered into HD several year ago. I used to watch the HD episodes on Netflix before NBC removed them from the platform. Unfortunately the majority of the official DVD releases used the worst prints imaginable.

And I saw some of those HD transfers on FeTV and COZI TV a time back, and while they looked great, the commercials, IMO, took very much away from them (this is why I prefer the subpar prints of some of the DVDs).

Sassy Sue Ellen in HD.

Sassy Sue Ellen, I love that!
First you post about about the reunion that I attended now this great clip in HD, I am forever indebted to you.

Wasn't JR cruel? Seems even more dramatic in HD. So pleased Sue Ellen got her own back. Poor Ray though, never to be spoken about again.
I wonder if they could've found happiness together? Especially once he was a Ewing.
