Wonder if it is going to be outrageous and camp like Dallas, or be like Anna Torv's previous series and be a serious drama like the short lived soap opera Primetime, rather than a Day Today parody it should have been.

“Dallas with Dingoes” has a nice ring to it but I think it’s basically an Aussie version of Yellowstone (which itself owes a debt to Dallas). Which I’m looking forward to seeing, as that mix of cattle station owners, Indigenous leaders and mining moguls will surely make for good drama. Also, as harsh as the landscape of the Northern Territory can be, it is outstandingly beautiful, so I look forward to seeing it onscreen.

I cancelled my Netflix subscription a long time ago but this series has sparked my interest. I've always said the Northern Territory lends itself to that vast, rich story-telling. And a heads up. That breath-taking over-view of the cattle mustering starting at the 50 second mark in the above trailer is not CGI. I read an article how it was achieved. The scope of this series I hope gains traction around the world and shows the audience there is more to Australia then the Sydney Opera House.

In a German review, a comparison was made to Dallas. Here is the translation:

... There is more than a hint of "Dallas" wafting through the script. Not only is Colin, who acts brutally and without empathy even towards his closest relatives, reminiscent of J. R. Ewing, the family constellation around Emily and Graham also brings to mind Bobby Ewing and Barnes' daughter Pamela ...
