Did anyone like Mitch?

I´ve always thought that Mr. McCloskey had some kind of problem with the "kind" of show "Dallas" was, though he had played in other soaps before. He never appeared shirtless (or almost never) and at the end of his first season, it was obvious that the producers had dropped the towel with him. They used him for nothing the next season, and it all seemed to point at "contractual obligations". It´s pure speculative because Leigh has always been candid in his interviews and careful to use his words about Charlene. He had a flawless face, by the way...

From the pics I've seen, he did go to Jim Davis' funeral.

i had forgotten he punched JR but than you could make a line of the people who have punched him and they'd line out the door and all the way down to the street lol.

he went to Jim Davis's funeral? really? he must have really respected the man which really is not a surprise at all to be honest. my guess is maybe he didn't realize he was just eye candy for the ladies and prolly some of the men as well i'm sure. but my guess is they lost interest in the character after they had him seeing Sue Ellen. and thank you for the kind words as well.

Hi everyone, I was on a rewatch last weekend and the next few days after, where I watched the shooting of JR and beyond into the fourth (DVD count) season.

I really liked Mitch and the indifference he felt toward the rich Ewing family as a result of him courting Lucy.

If you're wondering where I've been, I've tried on multiple browsers (on my PC) and on my android phone to get on the site but keep getting kicked off! I'm lucky I got on this time. Hope you're all keeping well. :(

I liked Mitch at the beginning too but him feeling the outsider all the time became dull. His pride prevented him from even trying to fit in and he made no real effort. He became involved with that Ms Michaelson too eagerly and confided in his female friend more than he did his wife. His behaviour was quite out of order towards Lucy just because he felt he couldn't and didn't want to be part of her wealthy family. Good to see you back! I'm still having the same issues even if it doesn't seem that way. My perseverance pays off in the end!

I liked him standing up to Jock and J.R. and how he wasn’t controlled by the almighty dollar at first, but the character just never seemed to evolve at all. That was a problem as far as putting him with Lucy goes because her character wasn’t evolving enough at this point either. Perhaps it would’ve been better to hold off on marrying them and give them more conflict for awhile. Maybe that would’ve made them more interesting in the long run.

I'll be in the relative minority here: I liked Mitch. Lucy & Mickey had better chemistry, but Mitch was the better longterm match for Lucy. I liked Mitch's independence and his resentment towards the Ewing wealth. Once Cliff got rich via the Wentworths, the show lost any sense of class conflict and they could have used Mitch for more of that. Not in any kind of "Mitch tries to take down the Ewings" -- god forbid, the show had too much of that -- but an outsider resentful about the seedier side of the Ewing empire. Mitch's attitude towards Lucy sometimes got a bit too close to Darren from BEWITCHED, in never accepting his wife and the worst of their storylines was the nonsense with the housekeeper; very sitcomy, I LOVE LUCY PART 2.

I like the concept. Mitch trying to use Lucy to get to the Ewing money and being more like how Afton was in the beginning could’ve been a good storyline.
No…the crooked guys were Eddie Cronin and then Casey Denault.

Mitch and Lucy just had to have children (preferably a pair of twins, like mother Val and father Gary) and had difficulty reconciling their work with parenting. Also because Mitch didn't want babysitters at home. But then he cheats on Lucy with the babysitter, they separate for a while (Lucy also has other relationships) but then they get back together happily.

But the twins' problems are always in the foreground, as are the jealousies between doctors at the hospital for Mitch and the scandals at the modeling agency that Lucy owns...

Eddie Cronin
Why did I like that terrible storyline with Lucy and Betty fighting over him? Not sure what I was thinking at the time.

I see. Well, he certainly changed his tune on that topic.

I like it better than what we got. It definitely has the possibility of making them more interesting long term.

but then they get back together happily.
I did like how they remarried later on. If Lucy was leaving it was a nice way to wrap up the character. I just wish their reunion had been given a longer story that season and not been so hastily thrown together last minute.

For someone who complained so much about wealth, Mitch fell for Ms Evelyn Michaelson who could afford some plastic surgery so wasn't without a few Dollars.

Love how he refers to her in BBQ as "a special case" and leaves early for her because he's on call.

I'm not entirely convinced Mitch was ever really into Lucy. Splitting them up only to remarry was a re-hash of a story that had happened too often with the other couples.

But how do we know it’s really you? How do we know it’s not an imposter trying to get a slice of the Ewing pie? Neither of your parents, neither Bobby nor Jenna, alerted us as to your return or reported you as missing so what are we supposed to believe?

Well, look at it this way how could a fraud know the things I know!

Like Jenna and Ray moving to Switzerland and setting up Krebb's Cuckoo Clocks. The cafe inside it where Jenna serves up a chicken and ham pie with cocaine in it! How could anyone on god's green earth but Luke Krebbs Ewing know that. :)

Okay, it’s definitely you. No X-rays or polygraph necessary. I’m convinced.

Mitch should have been like his sister, a gold digging hussy.
A male version of Afton would have been more exciting. How good would it have been to see a proper male gold digger for a change?

I´d have loved seeing that, but the actor probably would have said no, he had already played a gigolo in two telemovies prior to "Dallas"...And it´s on the Tube! ;) :danc::danc::danc:
