I always thought they should have brought Mandy back in the later years with JR's secret baby. When she left Dallas the first time, the timeline was ambiguous enough as far as when their affair actually ended that she COULD have been pregnant. They could have also slept together before she left Dallas the second time too, come to think of it.

A baby or young child wouldn't shake things up like a grown son would. The relationship with Julie went back long enough to accommodate that.
